Question about LG DLE7177 Dryer

2 Answers

LG DLE7177WM began making loud RuMbLiNg sound.

I have an LG DLE7177WM that is 2 years old now. About 2 weeks ago it began making a vibrating sound apparently from somewhere inside the back. I initially thought a coin or screw had gotten into the metal vent duct hose if that gives you an idea of the sound. But, I found that it was from somewhere inside the back. About one week after this sound began, the dryer began making a VERY loud RuMbLiNg sound which appears to also be coming from the inside back. Any ideas as to what the cause may be?

I was hoping for a quick response on here from those who know what they are talking about. Instead, I found a service manual from a more helpful site and printed it out. I used it to disassemble the unit and fixed my problem. Thanks for your input everyone.

Sounds like the same problem I have, after about a year since I bought it. (A terrible rumbling) I would really like to know what the "fix" was. At least I'll know if the repairman will be telling me the truth- or maybe get some motivation to do it myself. Thanks!

Same problem, I thought i was buying a superior product. Don't bother seeking any help from LG, you won't get it. if anyone has an idea of the fix i would apreciate it. Fixitnow.com will at least show you how to get it apart.

I have the same problem; pulled it apart and discovered the drum was cracked at the seam where it was welded. the noise occurs as it passes over the wheels the drum rests on. called LG's Cusomer Diservice and nobody was interested. found the same problems by others while searching myself so its clearly a manufacturing problem.

With no power rotate drum by hand. If there is resistance and/or any grinding sound check the drum bearings. If it's the bearings replace with sealed bearings for longer life.

LG DLE3733 loud vibration from bottom

If that vibration is while running it may be from an imbalance of the clothes in the drum. Open the door, when the drum stops reorder the clothes around the drum and see if the rumbling stops.

Sounds like the defrost timer doing its job but with loud efforts. GE is known for its different sounds some clanks to clicks to popping. Thank God for good hearing but curse GE for its poor noise reduction efforts. This is why GE is cheaper than its other competitors. They cut corners welcome to the world of GE. BB

your fan blade hit something and i think one of the blade got damaged and somehow it is no longer balance and makes a lot of vibrations.

have you read in the instruction manual to remove some kind of a shipping support before running the unit?

im just curious what hit your blade. it could be the shipping support for the compressor.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Very loud fan or vibration noise

Listen from the back of the TV and locate the source of the noise. There may be fan with a bad bearing. The noise will lead you to it.
