The next step in the troubleshooting should be checking to see if it is the wireless circuit in your laptop that is at fault. Use a conventional wire hookup from the wire input/out internet connection to the router directly and see what happens.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hi .

LImited access no internet service means that Authentication of your wireless network is not up.

You must know what your wireless encryption is and you can check your manual/guide for your router or gateway on how to access it.If you dont have it anymore than you can access your router by using your desktop computer w/c im sure is hardwired to your router.

By using your desktop we need to look for you default gateway by ff the steps below.

For win xp:

Start > run > cmd .... on the Dos window type in ipconfig /all

it'l then show your default gateway . It would look like this .192.168.xxxx

If you have your default gateway , w/c is your routers physical address Open your favorite browser and on the address bar type in your default gateway. It would route you to your routers page. Most routers ask for your username and password. When youre able to access your router you'l have a chance now to view or change your wireless settings.

Hope that helps. Pls let us know if you have further questions or clarifications.

Good Luck .

Cheers.

Internet Connection Issues - Compaq CQ60.

Hi.

First of all go the modem, wireless router or both and turn them off at the source (plug socket) and wait two minutes, while you are waiting go to the laptop and restart it, go back to the modem/router ad turn them/it back on. See if you can connect to the internet when the laptop fully boots up.

Let me know how you get on.

Good luck!

Compaq laptop will not connect to my netgear N300

Try switching the way you connect the wireless. On your laptop there are 2 different ways to connect, one using the the client application that goes with the wireless card, and the other way uses windows to manage and connect to the wireless. Switch them out. If you are using Windows, then use the other or vice versa. Open the software that came with your wireless card it should be on your desktop or in your program list. Click Start/Programs and look for it. For example it might be something like Atheros. Open it and look for a place or check mark on something that says: Let This tool Manage the Wireless, or Use Windows Zero Config to Manage the Wireless.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 and a Netgear WNR2000. They'll connect through an ethernet cable but not using wireless. The router is working fine with other devices.

check the connections for the wireless card and make sure they're both attached, you can see where to look here
http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-motherboard-from-compaq-presario-cq50-cq60-cq70-laptop/

if connected make sure not a firewall issue. Try removing all wireless profiles stored in your computer and re-connect to your home wireless network, make sure that you have the correct encryption needed if your wireless is secured.
Or... Click on Start select Control Panel. Select Network and Internet option and then click the Network and Sharing Center. In the tasks on the left click Manage Wireless Networks. Click your network name in the list, then right-click and select Remove Network. This will clear out the profile. Then go back to the Network and Sharing Center and click Connect to a network and reconnect to your network.
might actually be better to start with last one first but I have one too and wireless comes undone easy enough.
hope this helps
If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a rating of 4.It will help me
as well. Thank you
