Installation instructions for dvd/cd combo for IBMLaptop.

I have a IBM thinkpad R40, type 2681 laptop that came with only a cd player. But I buy a dvd/cd combo and I'm looking for help on how to install it onto my laptop.

If it is a direct replacement drive, exact size as old drive, then all you need to do is remove the old cd drive and slide the new drive into the slot until the back plug engages. Install new drivers as needed and any software that came with new drive. Hope this helps.

Not able to read dvd's and able to read cd's model lenovo 510i (what is it?) T510i Thinkpad?

While I was not able to find that specific model of laptop, I was able to locate the CDRW Bay and based on my research this bay only supports the following models. Though it may look the same and even have the same interface, if it is not in the supported model list, it will not properly function.

Where to buy motherboard in cleveland or new york model 2681 HSG

E-Bay is the best at finding cheaper motherboards for a specific model laptop. Make sure that you check that it's for you machine (model and configuration code...4 digits on an IBM).
