SOURCE: HK395 speakers problem with volume

What specific problem are you having?
Some have reported that squirting tuner cleaner into the back of the switch/ volume control will clear up some intermittent conditions.   If the on/off switch on the back is defective you can jumper it to leave on full time but then you'd have to use a power strip or similar to turh it off.

How to use hk395 subwoofer without satellite speakers

System power is controlled by a switch on the right satellite speaker ON/OFF VOLUME control, therefore you would have to connect a separate switch to control power. However, you may be able to get a satisfactory result by turning the satellite volume control completely counter clockwise and adjusting the WOOFER VOLUME control to the desired level.

Try http://www.redplanettrading.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1. They have the HK395 model for a pretty good deal and they might be willing to cut you a deal for just the part.

No one sells the correct knob

You will have to replace the whole system. Places will not just sell a knob for one.

Volume knob quirks

if you know how to repair, then replace the volume control switch. it is a digital type/mechanical type of switch with silicone oil on it to prevent sudden turn of volume. if i were the repairman i can simply clean the contacts of the volume control and pour silicon oil again. but i really dont know in your area if they try to clean those.

Press and hold the volume knob to get into the setup menu. Press and release the knob repeatedly until you see "Clock Adj". Push the DISP button, then turn the volume knob to adjust the hours. Push DISP again then turn the knob to adjust minutes. When you're done, press the volume knob again. Left speaker not working

Hi Dellhelp, this sounds like a defective volume switch to me. If you're handy with tools and have a soldering iron you can probably pick up a suitable replacement switch for $5 and spend 30 minutes installing it. Or for around $20 on Ebay you could buy another working unit. I wouldn't really recommend spending much time or money trying to fix them and if you do buy another set you can keep your old ones for parts :) http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=hk395+speakers&category0=&submitSearch=Search Let us know if you need more help and don't forget to rate the posting.
