Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook
I'm supposed to remove the battery and hold the power button for a period of time but it won't always work immediately. It could take days. I want a simpler, quicker solution.
Removing the battery and holding the power switch on for a minute will only assure complete discharge of all power. After this try using JUST the power supply. If that does not work the main board may be damaged.

Underneath the power button that you see is a small board with a tiny tactile button. These tactile buttons because they get used alot tend to go bad. They will get worn out and then eventually won't work.
Best thing to do is to go to this page courtesy of Acer:
There is a phone number there and they should be able to tell you if your laptop is under warranty. If its not, ask them the name of the board underneath the power button and its part number and you can search for it yourself on the internet to get the best price

Sound like a bad video card or its connection to the video inverter or screen. But mostly a bad video card and maybe high heat related failure.

The power button may not work, that is most common in laptops, or you have a short.
