Hi,
After changing the batteries the calculator is restored to factory defaults, but the screen contrast may change. The screen may be too light to see anything or., as in your case too dark.

To lighten screen
Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and hold [DownArrow] until screen is light enough.

To darken screen
Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and hold [UpArrow] until screen is dark enough.

To print the current date press once the Clock/Calendar key and then press once the Non Add/ Subtotal key (# key)
To print out any other date (or codes and other numbers that are not part of a calculation) just type it and then press the Non Add/ Subtotal key (# key). The date/number will be printed preceded by the # sign.
