Absolutely not. later, when you are stuck under the weight of the car, you will wish you had just went to the store and got a new jack

My jack will fall a little when I have it jacked up?

Maybe you need a new jack? Never trust a jack when working on a vehicle. Use hd jack stands where possible. Working on or under a vehicle, in the air, there are always safety issues. Safety is your responsibility.

How do I take a starter out of my 2006 Chrysler 300

You first disconnect the negitive battery cable at the battery .
Then you will need to jack the vehicle up enough to crawl under it use a jack stand never trust the jack your life depends on it .
Their will be 2 bolts 14 to 15 mm mabay a bite larger that hold the starter to the bell houseing remove them .Now the starter will come out you may need to minuver it some to make come out but it will drop out .
Then disconnect the copper wire its an iliot and what ever blade connecters if any to the solenoid on the starter .
Then install in reverse its a job that uselly takes under an hour return the old starter for the recore its worth 20 to 30 dollars

VERY LOOSE STEERING 2003 TAHOE. SWAYS WHEREVER IT WANTS ALMOST ON THE ROAD.

I'm thinking a worn /loose steering ball joint or steering rack. As to trusting mechanics I would find an accredited steering shop and have it checked out ( not any old garage). Ask around for a good reliable shop and ask plenty of questions first .

Old rusty hand tools

Get some WD-40 and spray it on the tool, get those washing scrubbers and scrub it off slowly. Alternately you could use products which remove rust e.g. Evaporust or something similar.

Gateway MT6728 PC Notebook Disassemble

Hello Don Dumas,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your question: This is a very time consuming process. The laptop will have to be taken completely apart, have the main board removed, and then the jack will have to be examined, finally the replacement part will have to be ordered and soldiered into place after removing the old jack. Let's not forget reassembly of the laptop again, and testing. This takes on average, 5 hours worth of work. I have done many of hey replacements.
I recommend you find a laptop repair center you trust and that will offer a fair price for the work. If you were in the Grand Canyon area, I would do the work.

Best wishes and good luck with your repair.

I have a HP dv7-1240us. My power supply went bad. I purchased a new one now my cpu doesnt charge or even power up. Need some help on how to replace the power socket. I have no idea on what else it could...

Was the new one that you purchased from HP? If so, then did the model numbers of the old one match the new one you bought? If the new one isn't an HP power supply, then that could be the reason why it won't charge your battery. Some of the "after market" power supplies will be enough to run the computer, but they aren't all able to charge the battery. It could also be the DC Jack on the motherboard that has gone bad. If you are not familiar with de-soldering a component from a motherboard, then you may want to think twice before attempting it. You will have to get the exact jack that goes to your motherboard, de-solder the old jack, & solder in the new one. Trust me, de-soldering and removing an old jack isn't always as easy as it sounds. You will have to completely disassemble your laptop to do that too, so be sure to keep track of all the little screws and which screws go where.
