Problem installing kd-sx840

I have wired all the cables, and I checked for 12v , but when i turn the truck on , the lights of the stereo come on for a few seconds and it shuts down, if u press the display button, the stereo turns on again and u can see the time for also a few seconds and then it turns off again. If u press eject u get the cd out, it turns on and displays the eject message and then shuts down, same thing when laoding, it loads a cd , give u the message of loading, and after a few seconds it shuts down. I'm looking for anyhelp, wiring diagrams to the trucks wires, install manuals, etc, I'm fresh out of ideas.

the stereo is a jvc kd-sx840, and te truck is a ford ranger 96, 4 cyl,

Why won't my JVC KD-HDR car stereo turn on?

Has it ever worked before? If not, this could be a basic install issue. To bench test, combine red and yellow and run to 12V positive and Black to 12V negative to see if it powers up.

Just brought my car and it has a JVC KD-SX840 installed.....radio works fine but the cd player doesn't....when a disk is presented into the slot what appears to be two metal bars stop the cd from entering...

are you sure there is not a cd in the deck already?????? you can try resetting the deck. there maybe a reset switch (a small hole about the size of a pencil tip on either the face or the subpanel) or disconnect power to the radio for a few minutes.

Have you checked the cables? It appears that you have connected the wire for ignition directly to the power in and the direct +12v to the ignition cable. When turning ignition off, the memory is then emptied.

Hook up IPOD

I am not sure if the model you have supports iPod control, but if it has an input jack in the front, you can use a cable from the headphone jack into the Aux jack in the front of the stereo and when there is a cable inserted into the jack you will be able to select Aux with the source button.
The other option is to get a kit installed at your car stereo place that will allow you to connect it via 3rd party hardware.

Cheers

Jvc kd-g310, car stereo wiring map, ford escort 1990

Hi itsmekr,

Pls refer to the image below for the JVC KD-G310 wiring. Should you need the complete installation manual, it is available here (as with the instruction manual).

Perhaps if you could post back with the year model of the Ford Escort, we can also try and provide the radio wiring harness information or at least a point to.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Doesn't keep memory

DIKA, first step - check your stereo batt backup wire , you must connect that direct or continues voltage from accu. Don't switch this wire, you can check if your car in off position , this  wire must still have voltage +12v - +14v if no voltage check your fuse near batt backup wire. Why that wire must have voltage, that's because the voltage used for backup your stereo memori. OK good Try , Fixya and Don't forget to vote me, thank's
