Angle cut blades have the cutter head angled at 25-35 degrees for easier insertion into tight spots. Shear cut blades are light normal scissor blades

My blades are a little dull will the blades still cut through a bolt?

You shouldn't really be using dull bolt cutters because it requires more force to cut through the metal which increases the likelyhood that you will get an injury. Yes you can use dull bolt cutters but you should always make sure that your blades are sharp before you use them.

Are bolt cutter blades really sharp?

A pair of new or freshly sharpened bolt cutters will be sharp enough to cut through skin if you run your finger along the blade. Never run your finger along the blade to check for sharpness.

I took the blade off of my riding mower and didn't note the original position of the blades. How do I find the correct position for the replacement blades?

Dont know exactly what you mean, but turn blades with cutting angle up. Make sure if a star like center on blade is lined up and goes over the star like on shaft and tightned bolts. If it has a tray like blade holder, just put up against it and tightned bolt. The way to remember is to put the cutting edge angled side up.

Need manual to see what size bolt is that holds on

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly,

It appears your model number is 74370 There are 3 bolts one for each blade and the part number is 26-0671 or 260671 for the blade mount.

Part look up:

http://www.jackssmallengines.com
then enter part number 260671 $6.31 ea.

You can not use just any bolt for this. They are hardened bolts with an NF thread. If you use a non hardened bolt the blade will fly off when the bolt shears.

This bolt is available at most all Lawn Mower Parts Supply sources. Toro uses the same bolt on most all of their mowers.

If you do not have a Lawnmower Parts Supply near by, you might be able to go to an Autoparts supply source with yet one of the other blade bolts in hand and have them match the markings on the bolt head with yours so that you have the exact replacement bolt.

Any other parts for your mower can be found here:
http://www.jackssmallengines.com/help.cfm

Use the Search model window. each line below is a drop down window
Toro
Riding
74370 <- there are numerous models up to 74704
enter your model number if different.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Trimer buing Question

Double position trimmers For extended reach while on the ground, a double position trimmer avoids you having to climb up high by allowing you to adjust the handle into a right angle to the blades for a level cut across the top of the hedge. Clippings collector As you trim your hedge, collect those stray cuttings in a clippings collector for a neater finish. Automatic cut out An important safety feature, this automatically switches off the hedge trimmer once the trigger is released. Hand guard For reassuring safety, a hand guard will protect you from the moving blades and from falling cuttings as you work.
