I think its worth the money. DIY systems are not so reliable and you always have false alarms-stressful. If you don't want to spend money, buy a fake alarm system box online. Then it just looks like you have an alarm system which should scare off any burglars.

I would say that if you are looking in the context of security for your home. Then, you must go for the best home security system that will be reliable and will provide you with the best option for keeping your home secure from any buglers. DIY can be used if you just want to scare the buglers, but they won't work for providing your home with the proper security. Also, you can get the best home security system from Wireless Home Security Systems Reviews along with the reviews of the real people.

If you have some sort of home network or Internet you could piece together your own kit, just need sensors a DVR or hardrive if you want to add cameras and a panel or brain to communicate those items together. A mobile backup with its own Sim card could help to notify you or authorities when a sensor is triggered

It depends on what you hope to achieve. If you only want to scare off an intruder, a DIY kit will work well. However, if you want someone notified, a monitored system is the route you need to pursue. There are all types of monitoried systems out there, just be careful when choosing a company. Some offer low up front cost, but have you sign into long contracts. Get a few bids and compare like items from one company to another.

How to Operate a Home Security System Without a Contract

Many homes have alarm security system installed, even though the current tenants may not have been the ones who paid for it. Some did pay for it but just can't afford the high monthly cost of alarm monitoring. Many people don't realize that once the alarm security system is installed only the monthly monitoring fee stands in the way of free home security. The alarm system still works without monitoring, and it is easy to configure on your own.
  • Install the dial capable motion detectors in place of the entryway motion detectors. The mounting directions and hardware will be included in the motion detectors' packaging. Often the old motion detector's hardware will mount the new one.
  • Connect phone lines to the new motion detectors as instructed by the manufacturer. Usually the lines connect from the new motion detectors to a phone or third-party dialer.
  • Program the dialer or the dial-capable motion detectors to dial the phones of your choice. Your cell phone is usually the most important phone number to program into the dialer to alert you quickly if there is an intruder.
  • Arm the alarm as you normally would. If there is an intruder, the new motion detectors will sense the movement and will dial your phone to alert you.
  • Tips & Warnings

    • Consider replacing the motion detectors that cover the windows and alternate entry and exit points, especially if you have a large home or one with several different entry doors.
    • If the dialer-enabled motion detector is capable, program a second and third phone number into the dialer to maximize effectiveness. Dialing your cell and your neighbor's home phone, for example, would be more effective when you are away from the area.

How do I reset the Master code in DAS NX-4--8 alarm system when the existing Master Code is not known ?

Be sure you understand the difference between a master code and the technician code. A master code lets you program other codes (and do some other harmless stuff). The technician code lets you do anything in the panel. If no master code is known you will need to default the panel. Do that by turning off power and disconnecting the battery. Reconnect the battery or plug pack and within 10 seconds enter 971300 on the code pad. That will wipe the eeprom back to factory defaults, and reinstate user 1 as a master code with a value of 1234. Don't even think of doing any of this without an INSTALLER manual. (Not the same thing as the USER manual). Better still, get an alarm tech familiar with DAS or CADDX products to program it for you. Worth every penny. After that you can add/delete users with your own master code using the much simpler User manual. Any code can be set to be a master code (that is you can have more than one master code)

What are the different types of home alarm systems?

There are two types of home alarm systems, the wireless home alarm system and the hard wired home alarm system. Wireless home alarm systems are the most common these days with many of them having a simple do it yourself installation. Hard wired home alarm systems are still around and still used, however. Wireless home alarm systems are much simpler to install and much easier to maintain. (www.prweb.com)
