Question about Dishwashers

Brand new Indesit IDS 105 Dishwasher will only run pre wash cycle, no matter what its set on - factory reset info required

Can anyone tell me how to do a factory reset on my brand new (2 weeks old!) Indesit IDS 105 dishwasher? After working perfectly for a week or so, I put it on setting 1 (intense) overnight, but it failed & simply took water in, swished it around a bit & then drained...all night long - it was still running next morning! Now, no matter what cycle I put it on, it will only run a cold pre wash, so I want to do a factory reset, but Indesit don't seem to know how to do a factory reset & just want to send an engineer straight out, which I don't want, until I've tried this. Can anyone help?!!

Purchased a second hand Indesit slimline IDS105, to find it would only complete the first wash cycle, at the end of this cycle the LED Would just flash, with the waste pump coming on every 2 mins to empty it. Even after 4 hours it still didn't complete a full cycle.

I looked through the manual only to find that the error code was not explained. I phoned Indesit, after talking to 12 different people, the only thing the useless company wanted to know was whether i had warranty or whether i wanted extended warranty, then after establishing i didn't, they just biffed me on to the next, when i actually got through to a loosely knowledgable person they said they would send out an engineer for you as we are not allowed to tell you what the error code means, I just put the phone down.

So... to the solution, after dismantling the dishwasher i tested every single component, with a multimeter. Through elimination and research i had a hunch it maybe to do with the heating element or NTC Temp sensor. Tested the NTC, perfect. Tested the resistance of the heater this read 0.34ohms near enough should be around 0.29. So i took the main board out and tested the relay and this is where my trouble and solution arose. To test the relay i got a 12v battery and the datasheet for the relay, tested the contacts, to here a nice click....Then pop!!! NOOOO i blew the IC that controlled the Relay (ULN2003A Darlington transistor array). I ordered one of ebay (but RS,Farnell sell them for a cheaper price) Unsoldered the blown IC, soldered the new one on.

Put the Dishwasher back together, crossed my fingers, turned it on, and selected programme 2 (Normal wash) and pressed start. 1 hour and 50mins of intense tension later it had completed the whole cycle!!!!!!!! Ive never been so happy!!!

Cheers
Up yours Indesit!

SOURCE: GE Nautilus dishwasher wont run

This is a typical GE problem which I have seen many times...When a DW sets for a while not being used...the motor often freezes up....Take the front (lower panel off....find the motor assembly...(with the DW unplugged!!...very important)reach in with you hand or a screw driver...preferably your hand...at the back of the motor...there should be a impeller blade...you should be able to reach in with a finger and pull it down..it may be resistant so find a way to hold it in place as you reach up to the next impller blade and pull down further...finally it will all of a sudden free up....after which you plug it back in and start it up...I am also including a step by step (no drain problem check list as you may run into an issue like this if it has not been operated for a while ....notice article # 5).

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

I hope this helps...it is always useful to include the Model #...more specific instructions can then be provided

Good Luck and good day.....please rate my effort...the Fang

SOURCE: Indesit IDL 50 Dishwasher

Had a similar problem (flashing lights 1 and 2). Drained the machine by diconnecting the outlet hose and using a shallow bowl on the floor. Removed and cleaned filters. Forced clean water through by using a garden hose pipe(you can only do this one way, you cannot force water down the outlet pipe). Removed and cleaned the pump (you have to do this from under the machine but easy enough). Finally ensuring the waste trap under the sink was clear. Bingo!! No parts, no expensive engineer.

Can't cancel cycle without it starting

you have a few choices if the factory says that this is normal. try shutting off the breaker or unplugging the dishwasher. we use plugs when we install them to make removal easier. with the power down for a few moments, it may reset itself if its a solid state board. otherwise, let it run and then start it over again to do what you intended. its not a big problem if that is what you are stuck with for functionality. it is not a common need to reset, i would expect. check the manual too, you may need to hold the reset button for a few seconds or more.
good luck
