The part that the plastic skeleton of the canopy (sun viser) slides into needs replacing. Is it able to be replaced? The part moves up and down (backwards and forwards) depending on wether you want to use it to shade baby or not. What is the cost?
You should have any problem finding that part, unless Evenflo completely discontinued your car seat.

The Zapp Xtra seat fabric should not be placed in the washing machine due to the likelihood of damage to the sun canopy.
To rectify the issue would mean to replace the Zapp Xtra seat fabric. If you're in the UK please order from your local Quinny retailer or direct from the customer care team.
If you're not in the UK please visit the Quinny website and select the country you're in, then choose the "Contact Us" tab on the right side of the page for your enquiry to be sent through to the customer care team who can best assist with purchasing a replacement seat fabric.
The sun canopy has a length of elastic at either end with a turn-over that is stitched in place. These lengths of elastic need to be pushed past a nub of plastic inside the sunshade rim around where the handle of the carseat is joined. Pull them past the nub of plastic and release, and the turn-over will prevent it popping past the nub. Tuck in the sunshade around the rim.
use a tiny flat-head screw driver to pull outwards on the tab (this is a blue plastic tab on mine) that holds the white plastic u-shaped (canopy part) in. I didnt think it would be this difficult but it is... the graco ones are much easier to take off to wash.
Okay okay--do not do anything with the big pieces behind the babies back but the gold clips at the **** area..pop those out and shove that piece and the clip and the chest clip through the back of the strap hole--then reput the strap through the slot you wish then the gold pieces back through the bottom and of course pop the gold pieces back--again do not use the upper clips behind the back to do this :0)

1. Infant restraint comes with four identical canopy support parts. Thread one canopy support completely through one sewn tunnel.
2. Slide straight end of a second support into the straight end of the first support.
3. On models with four canopy supports, repeat steps one and two for the other canopy tunnel.
4. Attach canopy in the areas between the infant restraint and the handle base.
To remove canopy, reverse the steps.
How do I care and clean for my PortAbout 3/PortAbout V infant car seat?
To clean pad slide the elastic loops of the seat pad off of the seat shell. Remove the harness system. Cloth pad, canopy, and head support may be machine washed separately cold water, delicate cycle, tumble dry 10-15 minutes, low heat. Wipe straps, buckles, and harness adjusters with warm damp cloth and mild soap. Air dry. NOTE: DO NOT submerge harness assembly in water. To help protect the vehicle upholstery, place a towel beneath and behind the child restraint.
