Very easy to do on that model. Just take the top off with 3 screws, probably #20 torx or 1/4 nut. I'm not sure what particular model you have but just simply disconnect the wires from the old one into the new one. If the computer is in the back, pry up on the top clips of the computer, it should snap off pulling it out, if it's on the side of the machine, there should be a clip toward the back to pry on and slide it out. Usually the wires will only go into the appropriate connector but to be on the safe side, write youself a diagram before you take out the old one. Sometimes with the sort wires it's easier to totally take out the old one, snap in the new one and connect. Most of the conectors have a catch or tab on them to click them into place. Look at the new one and you can see how the clips work in getting off the wires. Good luck

Maytag Maxima E05 & F06 error codes on washer

My F06 E05 error returns within a moment of clearing all errors. My Maxima has no tach line from the M to the MCU. MCU commo fault is a different error. So does anyone except Maytag really know what this error is? And Maytag only wants to send a service guy to bleed some money from you.

F06 error code. Its not what you think

Had F06 error usually when the washer went into spin cycle. Followed all tips on different sights. No real concrete solutions to my problem. Sense my problem was intermittent I ruled out the motor. I started looking at my MCU and found my heat sink was really hot to the touch. I slipped MCU out of wash machine still electrically connected and put my window fan on MCU while operating and washer worked perfectly. I the went down to Radio Shack and picked up a 115v CPU fan ($20) and installed on my heat sink. Just splice fan wires to MCU power wires (wire connector w/ the 2 largest pink wires). Mount fan creatively to heat sink (tywraps, hot glue gun, however) . I saved $150 and the heartache down the road. I think this a common problem for that MCU. Hope this helped. <br /> Robert, Aircraft Technician

Does not complete the wash cycles. Has code of F6

The "F06" error code is indicating a Drive Motor Tachometer Error. The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the washer will shut down. If a failure occurs during high speed spin the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes.

Potential Causes:

Loose wire connections between the Drive Motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU). Drive Motor MCU Wire harness I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

Will not spin saying f6

Hi.

F06 is telling you that the sensor that detects the motor speed is returning an incorrect value.

Here the full troubleshooting:

Drive Motor Tachometer Error
The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes.

Potential Causes
? Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the Motor ControlUnit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU)
? Check the Drive Motor
? Check the MCU
? Check the Wire Harness

In simple words the technician must check if motor is working by Ohming it or energizing it. If motor is good he must test the Tachometer, which is located on the motor shaft. The sensor is part of the motor assembly and it is tested checking its wiring harness and the harness between washer's control module. A direct test on the sensor is done by the washer when F06 is returned.

The wiring harness connector on motor is as in pic below. Tech checks continuity in wires 4 and 5 going to CCU:

The repair must be done by a technician.

Since the repair is quite complex, I suggest disconnecting power for five minutes (trip circuit breaker) and running a new cycle. If problem comes back, call the number listed on the user manual to contact a qualified technician.

Regards.

Ginko.

I am greeting a flashing code of F06 as in goes into spin cycle and it stops running.

Hi,

The F06 code will indicate a drive motor tachometer error. This means the control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If the failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door will unlock after 3 minutes.
The error code F06 is likely a loose connection in the harness between the motor and the (MCU) or between the (MCU) and the (CCU). It could also be the tachometer circuit in the motor or an intermittent internal component connection within the (MCU). Since the (CCU) has already been replaced, the failure is likely a loose harness connection or the (MCU). I recommend calling a service technician to check the connection.

Hope this helps.

F06 error message with flashing remaining minutes

Here is what the manufacture says about F06 - my comments will follow these.

DRIVE MOTOR TACHOMETER ERROR
The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and
the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during
high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after three
minutes.

Possible Causes / Procedure
1. Verify the shipping system including shipping bolts,
spacers and cables are removed.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections between the drive
motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between
the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive
motor.
6. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.

Phil's comments--->

If you just set the machine up be sure the shipping bolts have been removed, this is the most common reason for F06.

Other than that there is some type of communication error between the three main components (motor, Motor Control Unit and Central Control Unit) or the wire connectors between the three.

If you have had the unit a while and it is not related to the shipping bolts I would recommend calling Whirlpool

I get an error code either F06 or F60 on my GHW9150PW2 front load washer

"F06" is a Motor Speed error. The following link explains how to troubleshoot:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r714929-f06_error_whirlpool_duet_kenmore_elite

The first step in toubleshooting this problem is to check all the connector plugs between the Drive Motor, MCU and CCU. Check for loose connections and then unplug each connector and plug them back in (one at a time) to ensure they are snug and making good contact.

NOTE: You only to check the connectors that affect the drive motor and MCU circuitry.

If the tachometer is determined to be the cause of the problem, it is part of the MCU. The MCU will require replacement. For more in depth troubleshooting tips refer to your tehcnical data sheet that came with the washer. It is located inside the washer behind the lower toe panel. You will need to locate and remove the screws under the bottom front edge of the toe panel. Once removed, the panel will drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't located directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls. The tech sheet includes all error codes, test points, dianostic procedures and helpful illustrations to assist in troubleshooting and repair of your washer.

If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know.

NOTE: For better access to the toe panel screws, you can prop the two front feet of the washer up. (A 2x4 works real well for this.)

F-06 error code

ck all wiring connections from motor to motor control to main control on top rear rail f06 means main control can't detect motor speed when you say mcu i assume you mean the motor control bd next to motor they and the motor both have given very few problems in our area i suspect the ccu (central control unit) is the most likely cause
