but you never scanned it the 2nd time, maybe the gas cap is loose.
p2 is jeep factory only code (unlike p0,1)
so only jeep books get this correct .

as for why the CEL glows now, you'd have to scan it again
mine has like 300 DTC's possible. so ID NEVER ASSUME its still P2008- not me , id scan it, any shop or store can scan it,
why wait, or guess or worry.?
or ask him to help, see if it is something new, or just the gas cap loose.

be clear as to all DTC thrown, and post them all.

When you have an extremely high idle and code p2008 shows up what could the problem be


Without knowing what car you have it gets difficult to be specific, however since usually p2008 is dealing with intake manifold runner control, and you have a high idle...Id say you may possibly have a loose or broken vacuum hose to runner control...with the vacuum off the runners cant be regulated...and the air leaking in through the bad/open hose will raise idle. check vacuum hoses and runner linikage

I have a 2002 chrysler 300m with a 3.5. I started it this morning and it ran rough. I hit the gas and it cleared out. It ran for 5mins then shut off and smoke was coming from under hood. I checked and one...


check for fuses to the ECM
code p2008 refers to intakemanifold air control actuatoror solenoid bank 1---open circuit====causes wiring open circuit--intake manifold air control actuator/solenoid
IF the coil was melted , it is possible that the wiring for the p2008 fault is in the same harness and has burnt through causing the open circuit. or melted out in the connection causing the open circuit.

This is a Code for the intake runner control on bank 1. It is a part that moves shutter controls to change the airflow inside the intake manifold. Browse the web for this part "Intake runner control or Solenoid" with your vehicle info.

What it does- In old days Intake airflow was casted into the part and not adjustable. Because of Variable valve timing, intake airflow needs to adjust. Newer intake manifolds have multi-chambers and this part allows air to change from one chamber to another.

Sometimes it is easily to replace than clean the part, some earlier parts had plastic ends which broke, solenoids failed, etc.

P2004 intake man.control bank 1 stuck open


The intake manifold runner control (IMRC) cables have plastic ends that like to break. Check your IMRC to see if the cable it attached. If the cable s attached, then the IMRC actuator is probably defective. (see diagram)

Check engine light in my '07 VW passat 2.0t is on. Got codes P2015 (twice) and P2008 (twice) and EVAP system code P0456. What are these codes? Thx Phyllis


P2015 - Intake manifold runner position
P2008 - Intake manifold runner control circuit
P0456 - Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected

None of these are urgent, just annoying. And common problems with Audi's and VW. P2015 and P2008 were likely due to a software/sensor glitch, and did not necessarily require a replacement throttle flap motor. P0456 could be due to loose gas cap, but also was likely caused by carbon contamination from the evap cannister. I have all 3 codes on my 06 passat, and just live with them. I would estimate around 1000k conservatively to track down and fix from dealership.
