Question about Toshiba 22AV500U 22 in. LCD TV

Remote Control won't start TV

For some reason the remote control for this TV, Model #CT90302, won't start up the set. We've tried different batteries than the ones in the remote which are the original ones that came with it. I just picked up a new remote today same model and the TV still won't turn on with it. Could be the batteries are kaput but I tried the batteries in another remote for the VCR and they worked. Hoping it is not the Infrared sensor otherwise we're screwed.

SOURCE: Infrared sensor won't work in a Toshiba TV

The remote wouldn't work on my brand new 46" Toshiba TV. Comcast person said the tv gave off an infrared signal that interferred with the Comcast remote.

Solution was to turn on cable box FIRST, then TV ( now I use All On button, which turns on cable first). If I turn on TV first, the remote wouldn't work consistently. Hope this works for you.

If your Technica TV asks for a four digit universal code; buy onw RCA RCR311B model remote control. The codes for Technica with this remote control are:

If it asks for a five digit code, buy RCA RCR 312W model remote control

Remote doesn't control on/off,volume or channels


Remote won't workThe most common reasons the remote won't work is that the batteries are dead or it hasn't been programmed properly. It's often easy to fix. Here are the steps to take to troubleshoot the problem.
Make sure you have a clear path between the remote and the infrared eye on your equipment. Clear any dust or debris that may be covering the eye.

Try unlocking the battery-saving mode. When a button is pressed for longer than three minutes, the remote goes into battery-saving mode. Press the SAT mode button at the top to unlock it. Your remote should work properly.

Check the batteries. When you press a mode button, does it light up? If not, you may be out of juice. Check to make sure they are in the right way, with the metal ends making good connections with the metal in the remote. If they're in correctly and you still don't get power, try replacing them. Check to make sure the remote is programmed properly, which basically means you reprogram it to work with your receiver, TV and any other components. Not all IR codes are programmed into all remotes.

First check its battery contacts for any rust or dirt accumulated on it. If so, contacts of battery will not touch properly, and the unit will fail to work. The second reason for malfunction is due to the infrared sensor inside your tV. If it is faulty, the set won't respond to infrared signal generated by the remote control. If so, eventhough remote control works properly, the set won't work with it.
Remote sensor comes just behind the infrared window at the bottom front panel of your TV. It is a replacable part and not so costly too. It is a three terninal component will look brownish black in colour. It will looke like this.

Hi,
To confirmed if the remote control is working fine, aim the remote control sensor(IR emitter) directly to your cellphone camera. While pressing any button key on the remote control, you can see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control if it is working fine.


If you've confirmed that the remote control emitted an infrared but still the tv won't communicate with it, this is an indication of faulty IR sensor board of the TV. Check if there's an obstruction from the IR receiver in front. Keep away all of it, clean the plastic window of the IR receiver with soft clean cloth.
If the symptoms still persist, you have to replace the IR sensor board. Check the actual part no. of the board before ordering.

My Technika LCD32-229 is just over 12 months old and has suddenly decided not to respond to the remote or on/off control on the TV. If I turn of the power at the mains for 30 seconds or so, it will then...


HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:

The possible reason why your TV doesn't respond to your remote is probably the battery of your remote. Maybe it has been used up to it's fullest capacity, so try checking it up. In case, it has been used up, try to buy a new one.

The possible reason why your TV doesn't stay on is still your remote control. Maybe you have accidentally set it to "sleep mode." When it is set into sleep mode, it turns on just for a shorter time. It cannot stay on longer.

So, here's what you've got to do. Check your remote. When the remote works already, press the sleep button remote again. I hope it works for you.
