LiftMaster 1/3 HP- Garage Door Opens but will not close

My door was working fine without problems until recently. The garage door opens but will not close. The main light will flash but it won't move. At first I thought it was due to the freezing weather but then I noticed that one of the sensor lights was not lit. I replaced the sensors and still no light. I thought that maybe the problem was in the wiring, so I replaced the wiring from the sensor to the back panel. Still no light. I pressed the button on the back panel and the green light does turn on. Do I need to replace the logic board or the whole system. I have tried to replace everything dealing with the sensors but I'm not having any luck.

I tried changing the force, like you suggested, and it still does not go down. Still doesn't explain either why one of the sensor lights isn't on. Is that the problem? Opening and closing the door manually is not how I want to spend my winters closing the door. Especially since I live in a townhouse complex and have to run out, hold the button from inside, go out the front door and then through the alley to get back to my car. Any suggestions for a different brand that will not act like this in the winter?

I have had a similar problem related to my doors when they get cold-soaked. The tracks actually warp a little throwing the sensors off and causing the door to bind. The door will go down a bit then come back up. I overcame this be resetting the force that the motor puts out to lower the door and it works fine now. If you can wait for things to warm up, use the manual release lever and lower the door by hand and then reset the lever so the door can't be opened manually.

Garage door will close, stays shut for a few seconds and then opens on its own.

The opener is closing too far. On the side of the opener, you should see 2 white knobs, recessed into the side. Using a flat blade screw driver, adjust the close knob (closest to the door side of the opener), anti-clockwise until the door will close gently on the floor.

Hello we have a Chamberlin 2265R 1/2 HP gargare door opener. There are two issues. 1) recently when we press the remote to open the garage door the door will travel a short distance then stop press it...

I have recently had the same problem. I found one of the brackets on the garage door was broken. The broken piece which was hanging may have been interfeering with the traveling of the door. It was a diamond shapped bracket labeled N1. the door opens and closes, plus putting stress on the dootr. works fine now, i am in the process as we speak to find a replacement bracket. It was driving me crazy. The door would open fine, but when closing it would stop then go back up, the light would flash. Check all yhe brackets on the garage door itself.

My Craftsman garage door opener opens fine. It

It could be closing too far or the sensitivity could be set too sensitive.

Lube the springs, wd-40 rust may be the whole problem.

If the door hits and the opener continues to move until the rail flexes upward and then reverses - probably the travel adjustment.

Does the door close and stay closed if you hold the wall button down constant until it closes? - this would indicate a safety eye problem.

If the door reverses before it hits the floor or just as it hits the floor it could be the sensitivity or if the safety eyes are mounted to the track they could be flexing enough to move the eyes out of alignment.

Hope this helps.

The shaft on these garage door motors are not direct drive systems. You'll have to open up the box to see what the actual problem is. I have had stuff like this happen where a gear just slipped out of place.

Here is a link for a parts supplier. I don't know your model but it looks like most of the Liftmaster worm screw gears and drive gears are plastic so it's possible that one of them has cracked.

My Liftmaster 1/2 H.P. opens but cannot be closed (without depressing the button on the wall until the garage door comes down all the way. Any help will be much appreciated

HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON OVERRIDES THE SAFETY EYES.
WHEN HOLDING IT DOWN MAKES THE DOOR CLOSE PROPERLY THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.

ARE BOTH LEDS ON? - CHECK FOR A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.
ARE THE EYES WIRED CORRECTLY?
ARE THEY AIMED AT EACH OTHER?

Craftsman 1/2 HP garage opener opens only 6 inches

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. It may be stripped. Take a close look at those door springs. They can sometime appear to be okay when one is broken.

Check your door sensors. They have probably been bumped. Tweak them until they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.

Garage Master 1/3 HP 1997 Door Working, not responding to Remote

I have the exact same situation, except my model (139.53607) is older than yours and does not even have an LED. Remotes only works after after shop light goes off (5 minutes or so), but wall button works fine. Did call Sears Service and the tech told me the logic board is probably shot. Don't want to waste money on service call so I'll probably have to buy a completely new unit in the Spring and go through the winter without the use of a remote.
