Palm zire 72 will not syn with pc running win 8.1

You find a fix to that problem, and the (Palm) world will beat a path to your door. HP, Palm's new owner, has attempted a fix for Win7, but Win8/8.1 may become the impossible hurdle.

Good luck!

Zire 72 resets on its own

Hello.

First, if you have not done so, perform a soft reset then a hard reset, if still a problem.

If a problem after the resets, your battery is most likely the culprit. I'd suggest to remove / insert or totally replace the battery.

If you are comfortable disassembling the Zire 72, here are some instructions found online:

Hope this helps.

How to insert a sim card into my Palm Zire 72

No sim card in the Zire 72. On-board memory on the motherboard only to store records not directed to or on expansion memory card.
Zire 72 battery changeout not designed to be user serviceable. Undertake at your peril (unless you are very steady handed, patient, and very very careful). The 72 is probably the most difficult of the Palms to change batteries. Go to: http://forum.brighthand.com
Navigate to the Zire 72 section and read the posts. There are even detailed photos and uTube movies that deal with changing the battery. I have used their forum for years. Lots of help there.

Try formatting your Memory Card and if it fails, you should take it to the Nokia Care.

Make sure your card is an "SD" card and not "SDHC" which means you can only use expansion cards up to 2GB only. There are, however 4GB SD cards, but are now either hard to find or are more expensive. There are SDHC drivers around but you have to pay for those.

No display

Hello LyMaBa

Do you have an SD card inserted in the PDA?

If so remove it and restart your PDA.

Did the problem go away. If so, please, go HERE for the Zire 71 Expansion update or HERE for the SD/SDIO update.

You can find all the manuals for the Palm Zire 71 PDA HERE.

If you don't have a SD card inserted, you might want to try performing a WARM RESET of your PDA. Youtube has a video on this process HERE.

You can find instructions HERE for performing a reset ("warm" or "hard") on your Palm PDA.

You can find other software, info, downloads, etc.
HERE for your Zire 71.

If performing a "warm" reset doesn't work, try performing a "hard" reset.

*** WARNING!!! ***
YOU WILL loose ALL of your data on the PDA by performing a "hard" reset so make sure it's data has been synchronized w/ your computer software (Palm Desktop, Microsoft Outlook, etc).

ZIRE 72 CAMERA

I changed the battery in my PDA recently and encountered the same problem. The fix for me was in the camera circuit board cable, the one at the top. For some reason, there is no actual plug for cable to go in, so I thought it just rested as is. The cable must actuly be pulled gently back towards the top of the PDA and then aligned with the contact pins from the circuit board. Again, it doesn't actually plug in to anything, but just rests against the pin connector. Be careful reassembling, because the ribbon cable can pop out of place easily (it essentially becomes "spring loaded" when put in place). Hope this works for you.

TomTom one

Its more than likely that the data on your SD card has become corrupt or the card itself has become damaged / faulty. This can cause the tomtom to feeze on startup and doesn't even get past the loading process. You can "half" prove this by turning the tomtom ON without the SD card inserted. If you get the startup drums then a ' please insert SD card ' symbol on the screen , The card IS FAULTY . good luck. .................Hopefully , you backed up your SD card to your PC some time ago. If this is the case , you can just reload the files onto your SD card.

Fatal Exception every time I sync.

Check docs to go and Avantgo Documents to Go and Avantgo are usually the culprit with me; if you use these try to reinstall. Check (delete and reinstall) "complex" applications, build to be able to use databases on the SD card. The final straw is the procedure suggested by Palm; -make a copy of your back-up from the palm directory; program files/palmone/van/backup. - do a hard reset - reinstall the applications one by one, hotsync after every install until you have found the offending application
