Taking the handset apart on a cordless phone

How do I take he cordless handset apart on a Uniden CXAI5198?  The speaker part of the handset has a short.  I have removed the 2 screws within the battery compartment.  I don't see any other screws to remove.  Your imput would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like the register-deregister problem elsewhere on this page. Try holding down the "end" and "#" buttons for about 6 seconds to deregister the phones and then reregister them. I had this problem too and it worked for me.

SOURCE: Uniden 5.8 GHz Digital cordless w 3 handsets interference background noise no matter where we are in the house or which handset we use

This is possibly caused by the internet connection.
Try new ADSL filter.
You need one each per device.

SOURCE: No dial tone on handset

It may not be registed with the main unit. You may need to register the handset. With my uniden all i have to do is put it in the main base until it says what handset it is (it should be a number).

If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask

if you can get the exact model as the existing hand set it should not be a problem
just follow the installation process to get the base to recognize it so that it connects

Need a manual

Since you declined to specify the model of your Uniden cordless phone, I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual. If you don't know the model of your phone, click on the "How do I know my product name or model number?" link on that page.

How do I turn on my speakerphone for my Uniden EXP4540?

Sorry, Uniden EXP4540 2.4 GHz does not have a speaker phone feature. The cordless phone features AutoTalk™ and AutoStandby™. AutoTalk™ allows you to answer a call by just removing the handset from the base so you don't have to waste time pushing buttons. AutoStandby™ allows you to hang up by simply returning the handset to the base. You can check it's manual with this link http://www.uniden.com/pdf/EXP4540om.pdf.
Thanks for using fixya!
