Just see at the back of your PC. Can you see three slots of Pink, Green and blue color together? If yes, you have a Sound card. Now go to Start>control Panel>Sound & Audio devices>Volume tab. Click on Advanced and place the volume to Maximum. Don't forget to connect the speakers. Now check by playing something if you can hear something.
Please rate me appropriately if you are satisfied with my answer,in case, if you want any clarification please get back to me.

So i have a dell computer with a built in speaker and the speaker is on the computer screen and it doesnt work at all so how do i make it work ?

make sure you're not on mute. Go to your control panel, click on "Hardware and Sound" and among the selections, choose "Manage Audio Devices" once you click it, a little window should pop up and would show the sound device on your computer usually the default is "Speakers/Headphones". It should show you a "check" on the device meaning it is enabled so that you should be able to hear sounds on your computer. if it doesnt show you a tick mark (usually) or if it shows you in "red color" it might be disabled and thats the reason why you dont hear anything on ur pc. if that's the case, simply "right click" the device and it will give you option to "enable" it. Choose enable, and make sure to click "OK" otherwise it wont take effect. try playing any audio on your pc again. If it did not resolve your issue, then maybe it must be some sound card issue which is another method. try this one first and see what happens. -please rate me if it helped you. :) if not, let me know and we'll go to your sound card diagnosis

A compaq sr1000 need to know what no VGA input means. Will no allow my computer to come on

Welcome to FixYa

No VGA input means that the computer is not detecting video input from the video card. Usually you get this message if the video card of your system is not functional, the VGA cable is unplugged or the VGA cable is defective. To try and remedy this problem try these.

Check if you can hear sound coming from the system. If the video card is functioning then you should here the startup audio from windows.

Check the VGA connection on the back of the system. The VGA cable looks like thismalups_6.jpg

Please note that the VGA cable has two screws, make sure that both are fastened correctly

If the VGA cable is plugged in and you cant hear audio coming from the system. Then this would likely be caused by a defective video card on your computer

Hope this helps

Even after installing many sound drivers i am not able to hear sound from my pc. pls tell me how to know which sound drivers will fit to a sytem

The first thing to do is identify what is your sound card chip. You can see it from motherboard manual book (if its on board sound card) or you can found code on sound card if its add on. Some sound card chips will wrote the code above the transistor just like CMI87*** for C-Media or RTL*** for Realtek Audio.

But there is a more practical way is to use Unknown Device Identifier that you can free download the software here. You only need to run the software and it will search all existing hardware in your computer. You can easy found what is your sound card and install the right driver.

There is no sound device on your system.

Go to PC makers website, find exact model, then for free, download all sound drivers, and sound manager software, to PC. Install as Administrator.

I cant hear a single thing on my computer because i accidently deleted the sound thing i don't know what it is called but i need a free sound fixer download do u know any?

There are plentry of sites with downloads for Sound Card and other drivers but you will pay a fee to install them. As your Audio Device is an onboard chip the computer manufacturer is the best source for its' particular drivers. Their web site will have drivers for download. otherwise go to microsoft Windows Update: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Speakers are not working I have checked the plug in the mute buttons but no sound. When I plug them in I hear a sound but just a short beep nothing else

Hi sonfil55,

Do you know if you have the correct audio drivers installed? Go to your Control Panel, then System, and select the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Scroll down to Sound, video, and game controllers. If you see anything in that list with a yellow exclamation point then you have a problem with your sound card (could be software).

The standard beep you're hearing generally appears when the system doesn't have the sound card installed properly and the built-in speaker takes over. Therefore, my guess is that there is a problem with the audio driver.

If you can provide the make and model of your computer I can direct you to the appropriate audio file drivers.
