I do not have an Advanced option under Customize for my Start Menu. Anything else you can think of?

  • JEFF DAVIS Jan 24, 2009

Also, my only option is for the "Classic Start Menu"

  • JEFF DAVIS Jan 24, 2009

I'm running XP Home Edition with SP3.

classic start menu is your only option?

what type of OS are you using? right click on My Computer the select Properties so that youll see what type of WinXp youre using. Windows Xp Home and professional have these 2 selections of the start menu, Classic and XpBasic.

  5. When the Windows installation is located, the following instructions are displayed: Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All)

Need to close internet browsers to uninstall toolbar in control panel HOW?

Disable toolbar,

The normal procedure to disable a toolbar is:

1. Click the browser view menu.
2. Select toolbars.
3. Uncheck the toolbar name.

This will hide it from view, however some adware programs remain active and keeps monitering your internet activity even though their toolbar is disabled.

Uninstall toolbars,

Use windows add remove programs utility.

1. Click the start menu.
2. Click control panel.
3. Double click the add remove programs option.
4. Locate the name of the toolbar in the list and follow the prompts to remove it completely.

Installed Windows XP home edition and then lost Word 97.

If you allowed the installation to format the complete hard drive then you are goosed.

Try going to Start, Explore,Programs check to see if Microsoft Office is in the list .

If it is then open it up go through the files and see if you can find the original .exe files for Word etc

You may be lucky enough to be able to create a shortcut from each of the .exe files and transfer them to your desktop

So you would look for Word.exe icon right click on it an create a shortcut , drag that shortcut to the desktop.

Programs missing from add/remove list

Once you have the "Add or Remove Programs" window open look at the left side and make sure you have "Change or Remove Programs" selected. Also make sure you have the checkbox ticked that says "Show Updates".

As for the other programs in the list without the chage / remove option. You need to first click on the progam in the list to show that option.

Help me..whats going on with windows xp home edition

When installing a new operating system, all file saved will be deleted. Since you've lost all data, you might as well format the entire drive, and then reinstall the vista inspirat thing. Then, download an Avast! anti virus form avast.com. Download the home version, which is free and scan the computer for any viruses. Delete every last one of the suckers.
