I have a cracked and damaged area on the bottom of my fiberglass tub insert. Can I fix it myself? Where would I find the kit needed? Thanks.

My secondary bathtub is that way. I was told it was just a surface crack and wouldnt leak. It can be fixed with a fiberglass boat repair kit. However, it would not look very good. I took clear caulk and squirted into mine and it seems to be working fine. Once you put the caulk in rub it in with your fingertip and remove the excess.

Patch for tiny holes in fiberglass tub (8 yrs. old)

From my own experience I had a crack in mine. I sanded the area I wanted to patch. I bought a fiberglass repair kit from the hardware store. I mixed the hardener with the resin and applied it without the cloth. Make sure you have good ventilation and don't get it on your hands. After it dried I sanded it smooth it didn't look the best so I hit with a little spray paint. I have since replaced the tub but it held until I was ready to do that. A couple of years. Hey if this helps give me a vote please.

Can bottom of bathtub collapse

The answer is yes. Most of your moble homes have poly or fiberglass tubs with litttle or no bracing under them and the floors are made out of a fiber type board. When they get wet they warp, crumble and fall apart, so if water has gotten under the tub there isn't much of a floor under it. But yes it can be repaired. She will have to remove the old tub and the wall board around it And probably have that portion of floor replaced.

We have Builders #6032 and it has small hairline cracks in tub bottom. Its starting to leak into our basement. What do we do to fix it?

alot of times if you call the tub builder they have service guys who will come and fix your tub. most tubs have a 3-8 year warrenty against defects so you could get the fix for free. if not you can always try and get fiberglass resin and mix a batch up and seal the cracks yourself

EMBLEM, ELJER TUB. DO I CEMENT THE NEW TUB INTO THE FLOOR? HOW MUCH CEMENT AND WHAT KIND?

The tub should just sit on the floor, and caulked around to seal out any water. If it as a fiberglass tub, you might want to put some grout under the bottom to help support it.

One piece fiberglass tub cracked in the middle of basin (4'' crack

The only sure fix is to drill holes in the bottom of the tub and shoot in a commerical grade low expanding foam to fill in the void. The foam you find a Lowes or Home Depot will not work as it is a high expanding foam and will ruin your tub. Call a reliable tub repair company experienced in this type of repair. It should not exceed 200.00 including rolling in a new floor.

Difference between acrylic and fiberglass

Acrylic is a solid sheet material that is heated and vacuum formed to the desired shape. It is then reinforced at the back with fiberglass to give it strength. It is a higher-end material, very durable and super easy to clean. Fiberglass is a material that adheres to a mold and then a gelcoat finish is sprayed onto it. The most common material used in tubs and showers and is the most economical. Cast iron tubs are forged and the finish is applied in powder form while the tub is hot causing the finish to melt onto the cast iron. Synthetic tubs are molded and then a gelcoat finish is applied like the fiberglass tubs.
