Question about Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Digital camera When trying to shoot a photo, the image appearing on the screen has suddenly started looking very distorted, as if stretched in different directions and is rainbow colored, very psychedelic. The image then recorded looks the same as on the viewfinder. Changing new batteries doesn't help and I doublechecked the settings. Help?

When i take a picture a pink/white blob in the centre occurs. If i point the camera at a bright light and take some photos this dissapears, but if i dont take a photo for a few minuets it comes back. This...

Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details: Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

The Malfunction:
Among the CCDs used in the affected products listed above, it has been confirmed that, especially under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some places.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode, which results in symptoms like the following in captured images. These symptoms can be confirmed on the LCD monitor. The same symptoms may also occur in recorded images.
* images do not appear
* images appear distorted

Additionally, cpould read this article about recall and solve for free (not allways): Cameras-With-Defective-CCDs-Can-Be-Fixed-For-Free

Hope this helps.

My pictures are too large when downloaded onto laptop. How can I change the setting so that I can mail to friends? I never had a problem until my son borrowed the camera & altered it!

You can resize the images. For this you can use Irfanview or Paint. Or click here to visit a website which will allows you to upload and resize allows you to resize one by one.

If you want to use Paint, right-click on any photo you wish to resize and click edit. Press Ctrl+A to select the complete photo. Then drag the sliders wher you can see the end of the photo. Or

  1. Open the image file you wish to edit.
  2. Click the Image Menu at the top and select Stretch/Skew Image.
  3. Choose a percentage figure to resize the image. To avoid distortion, choose the same percentage for the horizontal and vertical stretch.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Once you have the desired size, click File, then Save or click Save As... to prevent overwriting the original image.

CCd failure

This is a good blog on CCD failure;

Goes into the distorted images you describe, explains why it fails, what it looks like and how to fix it.
While the images actually look cool it's a real drag when it happens to your camera!
Other things that happen is the images do not appear, or show with a magenta hue, or green tint.

Faulty Lens?

Dear Swetnam

This is a internal circuit problem/defect and cannot be done on our own, so u should take it to SONY service centre. Avoid keeping the camera near hot temperatures zone. Sony is not tolerant to many physical factors.
