Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I replaced the ink cartridge and tried to print something. A message came up that said "cover open". No matter what I do to close the cover the message continues. Also the buttons on the control panel do not respond, e.g. the on/off button will not turn the printer off. It is a Lexmark 3480. I believe it is connected properly and the cartridge is properly inserted.

Hi
its purely a hardware issue..
Fix:
1.if u r using a power surge,disconnect it-plug it into direct wall outlet.
2.unplug all cables and plug it back in again..
3.try to open and shut cover a couple of times
4.if the above steps do not work-contact tech support ,they would take u through mandatory trouble shooting and replace printer if in warranty..

Both paper jam and ink replacement lights are flashing.


Sounds like print cartridge collided with paper. Open both covers. Try to remove paper carefully without damaging print cartridge. you may need to remove print cartridges to get paper out. Then close every thing without print cartridge in. Reopen covers reinstall print cartridge/s, hopefully, everything returns to normal. It will probably say something about going through the process of realignment.

this like your cartridge has problem with connection
open printer cover/door
then disconnect your printer cartridge, both the color and black, then connect the cartridge again
close the printer cover/door
try to print again, if message still appear, it mean you need to change your cartridge with new one

I have all full cartridges, I have tried cleaning the heads multiple times, still i can not get any printing..not even the head alignment will print


try to reseat the ink cartridge, that means take it out, re insert the same cartridge if it is with ion 6 months, if more than 6 months, replace it w/ brand new, the ink might dried up already.

follow this:
Press the Setup button and select Ink Cartridge by pressing the fontu1.gif/fontd1.gif button, then press the OK button. Confirm the messages on the LCD panel and press the OK button to start the ink cartridge replacement.The ink cartridges move to the replacement position.
Make sure that the document cover is closed, and then open the scanner unit.
Open the cartridge cover. Pinch the sides of the ink cartridge . Lift the cartridge out
put it back in the printer.
Close the scanner unit, then press the OK button.

1. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and the wall socket, then wait for one minute.
5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
8. Print a Self Test to verify product is functional.
9. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print from the computer.
10. If the error is still there replace the unit.

If you turned the machine off and replaced the cartridge, you can get this error.

Could you try the following procedure below please to clear the error, thanks.
  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the top cover to access the print cartridges.
  3. Remove the new cartridge that is causing the message.
  4. Reinsert the cartridge and close the cover. The following message will appear on the front panel: "Press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge."
  5. Press the 1 on the numeric keypad of the HP product.
If the message, press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge, "does not appear after removing and reinstalling the new cartridge, and the low ink warning message still displays,

follow the steps below:
  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the top cover to access the ink cartridges.
  3. After the cartridges stop moving, unplug the power cord.
  4. Remove both cartridges and close the top cover.
  5. Plug the power back in. The unit will reinitialize and a message will appear to insert the cartridges.
  6. Open the top cover and reinsert the ink cartridges. Close the top cover. The message,

No B/W print while black cartridge is full.


Your printer and its software will let you know when an ink cartridge is low or expended.

If an ink cartridge is low or expended, you see a message on the Epson Stylus CX8400 LCD display screen. If a cartridge is expended, you must replace it to be able to print. If a cartridge is low, you can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement.

NOTE:
You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expended. Replace any expended cartridges before printing or copying.

When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head.


Follow the steps below to replace one or more ink cartridges that are low on ink, expended, or too old:

1. Turn on the printer.

If you're replacing a cartridge before you see a message on the LCD display screen, press Setup, select Maintenance, and press OK. Then select Change Ink Cartridge and press OK.

2. Open the scanner.

3. Open the cartridge cover.

4. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift the cartridge straight up to remove it. Dispose of it carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it.

5. Before opening the new cartridge package, shake it four or five times. (Do not shake a cartridge after opening the package; ink may leak.)

6. Remove the cartridge from the package, but be careful not to touch the green chip on the cartridge.

7. Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the cartridge.

CAUTION:
Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak.

8. Insert the new cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place.

9. Once you replace all the necessary cartridges, close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.

10. Close the scanner.

11. Press OK to begin charging the ink. This takes about 2 minutes.

When you see a completion message on the LCD display screen, ink charging is finished.

CAUTION:
Never turn off the printer while ink is charging or you'll waste ink. If you see an ink replacement message on the LCD display screen, press OK and press down all the cartridges securely.

The issue relates to hardware of the unit ,
unit can not be recovered or is almost certain to fail again, however we can Attempt to Recover Unit Once .follow the steps below .
