Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV

1 Answer

Trinitron KV-36FS13 I have a 36" Sony Trinitron television set that suddenly will not power on. There were no symptoms -- the TV was working perfectly well last night, turned it off for the evening and this morning it would not power up. I tried tp plug the set into a different outlet but no response. There are some peripherals connected to the TV, i.e., a DVD player, cable Box and VCR, buy they all power up just fine. Could it be a power supply on the TV? The set is over three years old but with no diminishing signs. Any ideas?

Re: Trinitron KV-36FS13

The problem is in the standby power section. Check the fuse, R607, or burnt IC601, fuse R612 and VD relay 601 should show open. Its possible it could be the high voltage area of the power supply. You can try unplugging the set and cable and let it sit 4 to 6 hours. This is a hard reset. If it still doesn't turn on after the hard reset and the fuses and relays are fine, and you don't smell anything or see anything burnt. Then you'll need to call a TV repair man. They normal start around $150-$200 to fix the set. I hope this helps.

Sony TV not turning on

Chances are the Power Supply failed because the Horizontal circuit failed. It would not be out of line if the repair cost ran 250.00 plus.
It is probably not worth fixing due to the age of the set.
Hope this helps,

Need some body to help me, could you send me copy off schematic drawing Sony Trinitron Colour TV model : KV-PG21P40. I nedd to check the defective power oscillation.

These are not available for free anywhere that I am aware of. That being said, what is the problem you are having with the set? Perhaps we can assist with some diagnostic suggestions or possible solutions based upon the symptoms you describe.
