Key will not go into ignition

We successfully put scooter into operation. After taking key out, it wil not go bACK IN. Wehave tried many times. There seems to be a spring loaded, brass colored piece down in the ignition that blocks the key entry.

WD40application & exercizing spring loaded[obstructing]object did not help.Actually the spring loaded member is below 2 stationary pins which correspond to grooves on the key.. It moves freely out of the way of the key when pushed but returns to an extended [obstructing]position when pressure on it is ended.

Thank you for supplying the name of the spring. In view of the fact that this does not help solve the problem, however, I would appreciate a refund of the $10.00 fee.

If you don't feel you NEED the key, you could remove the damaged cylinder and install a switch that will do the same as the key.
But if you're going through the trouble of taking out the lock cylinder, you might just as easily replace it.
They may - or may not - sell parts to the public.
Some manufacturers only sell to authorized service centers.

That spring you are referring to is the ignition cylinder spring. You will need to have a tech look at it in order to get it working again. If it is still under warranty I would suggest calling Pride Mobility.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, have you tried spraying with WD40? Additionally, you may try to exercise the spring loaded pins.

Pls post back results. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Ignition is loose

sounds like a loose or damage ignition, if you are happy to get your hands dirty, it should be easy to fix / replace as needed, first thing you need to try is poping a small amount of WD40 in to the ignition key socket, this some times loosens the internal components with luck that will sort it. if not then look to see if you can find the screws / bolts that hold the cover in place, if you can then just open up, there will be a nut on the underside of the ignition that is probably loose, tighten that first, then check all leads are secure if not tighten / re solder or crimp on new connection. test to see if problem resolved, if so fine put back together and off you go, if not then you will need to take out the ignition and order a replacement, there should be product info sticker on it, i would check eBay for a generic ignition (much cheaper) once you have replacement install and of you go.

Hi. 7 beeps is fault code for a faulty speed potentiometer. Might also be a broken wire on the pot or a faulty connector. Most times, a new pot will fix the problem.
