1996 dodge ram 1500 p0505 code.whats that mean?

I can not get my '96 Ram to crank. It turns over, there is power and fuel. The code is P0505 (idel control system malfunction). Can this keep the engine from starting at all until the part is replaced?

my 96 dodge 1500 will turn over but not fire and run. i just replaced the tranny and it was fine i got maybe 100 feet out the drive and it stalled.

p0505 is a code for your IAC (idle air control valve) located right below the TPS (throttle positioning sensor). Beware it is not necessarily the sensor. If you use a test light on the connection coming to it while the vehicle is running and rev the motor each terminal (probably four) should flash. In this case it is most likely your sensor. If not it is in the wiring or your pcm.

I have a P0505 error on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 what does this mean and how can I repair it

Idle Air control valve is sticking. I had this on my 5.2 Dodge engine.

You can remove the IAC assembly from the back of the thottle body and clean the metal surface. Do not turn or push on the plunger. Deposits cause it to stick. You can also replace it pretty cheaply but I find cleaning it works well.

2000 dodge ram TCS been replaced still get code p0505

Code 505 is for a problem with the idle air control valve.
It could be the valve, or a dirty throttle body, or a problem in the harness.
If you replaced the IAC and the throttle body is clean, and the code remains, you probably need to open the harness and check the wires.

1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2 engine ... check engine light code 43 what does it mean I replaced all the plugs .. plug wires distrubtor...rotor button and ignition coil ...after about 45 miles on highway it...

If I were you which I am not, Ide change the catlic converter, it seems like it is pluged solid.

Change the iac on a dodge ram b3500 van and still have the p0505

the idle air control is on the back of the throttle body. it has a plug going to it and is held to the throttle body with 2 screws
