Question about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer fills, drains, but doesn't spin

Took off the bottom cover and the shock absorber has broken off the drum. Can this cause it not too spin or could there be another problem as well?

Is the drive belt broken, assuming the motor runs. Or has a pulley come loose?

Cabrillo drum not centered

Maybe the shock absorbers are broken or one of them is broken. First of all unplug you washer and then open the back panel use the flash light to see on the bottom of drum there should be 2 shock absorbers one is on left side and the other one is on right side check both of them it get break quite often.

Final high speed spin very noisey

Something is causing the drum to be way out of balance. Does it bang and make noise when it's spinning empty? Probably not. Is something stuck on the side (inside of course) of the drum, causing it to shake when spinning? If not, a spring or shock absorber (connecting drum to sides, bottom or top of machine) has broken or come loose.

When spinning sounds as if there is a brick in side it and the belt end's up slipping off

Either the springs holding the drum in place at top of machine has broken but more likely is the dampers at bottom of drum have failed.
there are normally 2 dampers on underside of drum like shock absorbers.

The drum shakes violently and is very loud during spin cycle

There are 2 shock absorbers/springs attached to the drum. If one of them breaks it will cause a loud banging noise when you wash heavy loads. This is an easy fix. The part is about $22.00 and it is accessed throught the front bottom panel.

The washer drum is hitting in the spin cycle.

When you take off the back panel, check to see if both shock absorbers are intact. We were having some problems with our (ATF6000E) Frigidaire front-loader recently too. I noticed that one of the shock absorbers was broken, for about $25 I got a replacement (two of them, I couldn't find just one). It took about 15 minutes to replace. No problems. With mine, though, I think because the drum was moving around, it dislodged some wires which made it stop filling up with water after a few seconds. I did a test and it said E5E. I would check to replace your shock absorbers before doing any more laundry so your machine will still work and not have other problems like mine.

The tumbler/drum of my washer is sitting at an angle. is this repairable?

hi there ....this problem is usuallly caused by a problem with the the drum suspension...broken/ dislodged spring...broken damer at bottom of drum assembly (shock absorber)...cracked or broken base on machine...(will require welding)...broken or dislodged counterweight
these roblems are generally all repairable

Washer drum shakes excessively during fast spin

y shaped piece that contains the spindle that attatches to the basket and allows it to spin is corroded and cracking. you can't buy just the spindle bracket, you must buy the basket too. you'll be buying the front part of the drum too, if you wait to long.

Shocks broke, now drums spins freely

What you need to check thoroughly are the belt & the 2 shocks (dampers). The dampers should be replaced & fitted tightly, broader ends fitted below.

Kenmore spin cycle thumping noises

I just went through the same issue with my Kenmore front loading washing machine. I assumed (and a Sears repairman also told me) that it is the bearings. After I took the drum assembly out, I saw the rear drum broken and the inner tub hitting the outer tub. I ordered the outer drum assembly and only when I took the inner drum assembly out I realized the the "Spider" attached to the inner drum (and spindle) was broken. Entire drum assembly cost $417 + shipping and it may be cheaper in the long run to buy a new washer. I like the front loaders because they save water and good for the environment, but the US manufacturers have not yet perfected the technology like European manufacturers (or they don't want the machines to last too long just like cars). Anyway, I am looking into welding the spider tomorrow. If not will return the outer tub assembly and buy a top loading washer for $300!
