Question about Denon AVR-4802 Receiver

1 Answer

Selecting a Blu-Ray Player

I have a Denon AVR-4802 7.1 AMP. I considered purchasing a Denon Blu-Ray 1800 BD. Howerver this does not have any 7.1 analog out's. Can I still get 7.1 with digital coax out or optical out.

If Denon blu ray has coaxial or optical out for audio, then your Denon receiver will process this signal and will give you 7.1 out sound.

Page 10. The S-302 uses a proprietary D-Sub25 system cable to the DSW-S302 subwoofer. Don't know if or why it has more than 2 active conductors. The other speakers have removable cable ends so they might work just fine.

I'm buying a 1080p blue ray disk player. I have this receiver, will it support 1080p? Thanks: Denon avr-4802.

Hi - If you mean can you run/switch a 1080P video source through the receiver, then the answer is no. It can only switch through the video component connectors on the receiver (1080i) but it's not a problem you can just connect your new BR player directly into the TV (HDMI) and have the audio handled by the receiver. It's a common setup and you're not really losing anything. It's the setup I have.
Enjoy your new great BR experience!!

Hi, just connected a Blu Ray player to my sytem. I connected the player via HDMI direct to the TV and the audio output direct into Optical 2 on the Denon. Problem is that there is no sound. Also...

We can't make assumptions about proper and complete setup if you don't explicitly mention the steps involved, so... did you assign and select the digital inputs properly?

BTW: I concur with your decision to send the video directly to the TV from the BD even though Denon and others expect it to make a hop through the receiver first.

Get into your BD and find its audio out setup. Make sure its settings for digital audio output bit rates, speaker presence, type, size, distance and bass-handling are set correctly.

I have a Denon AVR-3808CI A/V receiver, a Samsung HL67A750 DLP TV, a Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray player, and a Motorola HDPVR for the cable signal. I have connected the Blu-ray player and HDPVR to the Denon...

You will have to disable one or the other. Most likely the source because not all disk"s will be recorded the same. If a disk was transfered from film to digital poorly, this will show up as a grainy look on your tv, not much you can do about that. I would set your tv the best possible and go with that, also if your tv is capable of 24fps use that setting.tweaktv.com can help you with your tv setting. Use Progressive Mode on you blueray and your dvd also.

Connecting two mulitchannel devices into one receiver

I guess you could try y cable adapters for input on the Denon. Might get messy. Try radio shack and pick up 5 y cables for the speakers and 1 for the sub. Someone probably makes an audio switcher that handles that as well.

Audio problem when connecting to a PS3

It seems the Denon and PS3 don't play nice together on DTS. If you take off the DTS setting, then the PS3 will use DD and you'll get surround for games and movies.
