Question about KitchenAid Refrigerators

Plastic Taste in Refrigerator Water

We have a Kitchenaid Refrigerator (Side by Side) Model No. KSRL25FRSS00, that we have had for a little over 3 years. I replace the Pur water filter every 6 months. It has started over the last 3 months to develop a plastic taste in the water. I have change the filter 3 times trying to eradicate this taste to no evail. I never used to do this. I have even had the ice maker replaced (It went bad about a year ago).

Hi there, I noticed the same condition when I left the filter in ours a little too long. The optimal performance from the filter is achieved (I have found) when you change it after 3 months. This is about the same amount of time it takes for the light to change from green to red on the filter light.
Hope this helps. ~Steve

There is a heater in the ice tray that is supposed to thaw the cubes a little bit so they don't stick to the edge of the tray. When the heater does not work the ice sticks and the motor wont dump them out. Water smelly bad taste. Sat for two months during kitchen remodel. Filter has been changed, and water flushed and ice cube ran several times. Can plastci lines be replaced? thanks.

When the fridge was turned off during that time ,the water left over inside the reservoir(plastic container inside the refrigerator side where the water keeps cycling and staying cold) might gone bad and contaminated the reservoir,in this case the reservoir needs to be replaced. But first try replacing the water supply line , if it's copper or a gray plastic pipe ,also could give bad taste to water.
