Before hammering that thing, have somebody give you an estimate on changing the graphics card.

You've probably got to have your computer configured to boot from a rescue CD before it can recognize and install the new harddrive. Also make sure that there is an operating system installed on the hard drive . If not it will not do anything until you install one. This will be automatic if you install a new XP or Vista DVD into the computer's DVD drive the reboot.

Toshiba satellite A505D-S6968 I turn it on and everything lights up but I get a blank screen. Nothing at all the keyboard is lit up and so are the power buttons

Can you see anything on the screen in a bright light? A ghost image? Fan spins? Sounds? Only a black screen? Has there been ANY damage? Drop? Bump? Jar? It could be the Monitor, Inverter, backlighting, lose connection in the rear of the monitor, the switch the controls the lighting of the monitor when you open and close the lid? Hard to be sure without troubleshooting. Here's a video to give you some tips:

Hello, I was needing to know how to take apart a Toshiba A505D-S6958 laptop's grill so that i could clean underneath the keyboard ?, is this an easy process ?, or is it more to it than I'm thinking...

It is not too hard and it can be done. If you just need to clean it, you can use air can compressor to clean it the surface and underneath the keys because dust can't get into underneath keyboard, therefore, you don't need clean underneath part unless you need to replace the keyboard.
But if you still really need to do it (for learning experience), then yes, you can do it.
All you need to have it a flat and philip screwdrivers. Be gentle when do it, you might need to take picture of keyboard before it been removed so that you match them when you put keyboard back.
Use flat screwdrive to remove the top part of you keyboard and underneath you will see 4 or 5 screws that hold keyboard, just unscrew them. Here is the link for more information.

Toshiba Satellite P200 doesn't boot

Try pressing FN/F5 keys simultaneously, or the key that toggles internal/external Display. Look for the double screen Icons on the keys.

Tap the Pause Key.

Restart and press and hold F8 key when Toshiba logo appears. When the boot Menu appears, select Last Known Good Configuration.

If all else fails ther should be a reset button on the side of the LT. Consult owners Manual for location
