Re: I have a Kenmore Frig "Cold Spot Mod#106" side by...
The water filter is really a screen in the water valve the same as a washing machine. turn the water off for the water line in the back of unit near the bottom you will find the fill line expands and a connection like a garden hose is there . loosen the connection and inside the valve you will find a stainless screen ,take it out a rinse it under afaucet then reverse your steps. the light switch is easy to change . unplug the refrigerator and lull the light switch off maybe you will need a small flat blade screwdriver to get it going. once you have the switch out check the terminals for broken or burnt wires and connections. take the switch and a vom meter and put it on ohms put a meter lead on each terminal of switch press the switch and you see the meter peg out if it doesn't peg either way the switch is bad get model # and find a parts store.if switch tests ok then problem may be at light socket. make sure light bulb is screwed in tightly because it has to prevent moisture from getting in. good luck

Hello Jim, Sorry it has taken me a while toget back to ya i just got. So on your refrigerator it very likely is the switch forthe cradlethat ya push to dispense ice and water through the door. Unfortunitly modelnumber 106 asyou have listed is only the source number of whom your Kenmore was made by. Typically the full model# that does start with 106 willbe on a label on the ceiling or side wall of the refrig. section inside of it, reply with complete model number please and i will be able to help ya disassamble the door dispenser as well as provide you with part numbers and such Thanks for using FixYa.Com GENE
Most likely the dual water control valve is not opening to allow the water to the dispenser if that is your meaning. Now if you mean water for both dispenser and ice maker then that would change everything. See if you can locate the model number that Sears puts on the door frame near floor. The fresh food section door at base and the number will look like this example 312.256489 With that number I can see everything your side by side came with and tell you the parts and locations. You also can have someone test voltage going to the water control valves while someone presses the dispense water switch. And with a voltage meter set to OHM's test the coils on the dual water control valves for resistance and if one has a very different number that can tell you. So we have several things to look for, water supply, dual water control, (if one works and other will not) and model number, Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze
I would replace the evaporator fan, this fan problem is hard to diagnose because the fan will spin but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace is around $300.00
well there is two things it could be low water pressure or ur ice maker is defective try replaceing the ice maker this should work if not u need to get a frig repair man out to help u because if the problem is in the frezzer door it is not easy to fix on ur own
either your water valve is clogged or it has gone bad, located bottom right corner, you can take it apart and check the screen filter if it is not clogged than you need a new valve approx 72-80$ plus install unless you diy!
