What type of connections do the mouse and keyboard have? If they're PS/2(round connector) then make sure you have them in the proper mouse/keyb ports. If they're USB try other USB ports. Please try this and report back with the results.

You may try reinstalling Operating System using any retail edition disc. If the issue persists then service will be required.

Advent mouse not working

You need to install a software driver to make it work, normally Microsoft will recongnise a USB or serial mouse and install the driver for you.
If no,t take it back to whoever you bought the mouse from and ask them to install a driver, or to send you one.

No sound on Advent 7088

Have you done ALL the Windows and Advent Updates? Open the Control Panel, select Device Manager, open Sound, video and game controllers( I don't know what Windows version you have), is the Realtek AC'97 audio enabled? In the Tray Notification Area, is the Sound Icon "X" with red? Have you tried the Function keys? See: http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/7088.htm

How to replace the keybord on an advent 9517 laptop

Advent laptops are manufactured by DSG International, which owns the names to other name-brand computers such as Acer and Hewlett-Packard.
The Advent laptop keyboard has integrated mouse touch-pad functions that allow you to move the mouse around the screen with your fingers.
Function keys at the top of the board contain alternate ways to exit and enter software applications.

Function Keys
The Advent laptop keyboards function keys are "hot keys" that act as shortcuts to applications and functions on the computer. The function keys sometimes don't work and won't carry out the function assigned to the key. This problem is considered a hardware malfunction, and the solution is to replace the keyboard or use a universal serial bus (USB) keyboard for the laptop. b> Malfunctioning Keys b> Advent keyboards are made of thin plastic. Striking the keys too hard will cause the keys to break or stick awkwardly in the housing unit that supports the keyboard. When these keys get stuck in the housing unit, a pin tool can easily set the keys back on track. If there are too many keys that get stuck or broken, you can purchase a replacement Advent keyboard and have it installed. b> Mouse Problems b> The mouse is located at the bottom of the Advent keyboard but is connected to the keyboard data strip that sends information through the keyboard unit to move the mouse on the screen. If the mouse malfunctions, check the connector under the keyboard to see if it is loose. A loose connector can cause the mouse or other keys not to function on the laptop. b> Electrical Shortage b> An electrical shortage can cause an Advent keyboard not to work properly. A shortage is when the main board of the laptop is not getting the voltage needed to efficiently operate the computer. When this happens, certain devices underperform or become inoperable. Check to see if your power supply is extremely hot or if your system heats up around the keyboard. If so, replace the electrical adapter. b> Wire Damage From Keystrokes b> The wire that is responsible for the liquid crystal display (LCD) on the Advent laptop extends from under the middle of the keyboard to the LCD display unit. This wire is unprotected and can be damaged from striking the keys over the wire. When this happens, the display will not show the correct colors or the screen will go black. To eliminate this problem, purchase a keyboard cover that fits the keys to relieve the pressure between the keyboard and video cable. b> Keyboard Drivers b> Problems have been reported with upgrades from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Windows 7 will not recognize the system drivers that operate the Advent keyboard. To get the keyboard to work, you must load the old drivers in Windows 7 Safe mode, which is used anytime there is a hardware or software discrepancy. Advent keyboard drivers can be loaded from the original restore CD, which is included with the system at the time of purchase.

My drive on my advent roma is not recognising any discs

You can try cleaning it with a cleaning disk but otherwise it does sound like the drive is going bad.

How do i rebot advent roma to factory settings without a disc , because i swith on the comp and have a black screen

Hi angie_baby07, since you are using a Lenovo netbook without the DVD drive. you can perform the One Key Recovery or in other words, factory reset.

Turn off completely your pc.
then beside the power button at the upper left corner of your keyboard, there is a button with a u-turn symbol on it. Please press and hold the button for 5 seconds. Then wait for the One Key Recovery button. Then Press the One Key Recovery option once it loads. Then press restore to factory default. Then click next and then click start.

Hope this helps...

Evesham laptop muse/keyboard/restart prob

Operating System Corrupted. Save all your data and use Factory Restore Disks to Restore your Entire System, including Drivers. If you have problems with saving Data on Hard Drive with External USB Drive than it may be a faulty Hard Drive which you can just replace, then reload O.S. .

Help :(

hi,

if you use it stationary only, u may think about an external keyboard(make sure it has either a ps/2
jack in the back or usb-port to attach a usb-keyboard to)

if not:
-carefully dissamble the laptop ( see paper or data manual first!), try cleaning the buttons/pressing-compound( it looks very similiar to a calculator/mobile phone interior),
reassemble and try again.

when still facing the prob:

- check for the exact model number and see if there is a new keyboard available from the manufacturer, then u will have to (let s.o. else?) exchange the parts - this may work.

good luck

Keyboard locks on startup, mouse pad works, FN & ECS (for Standby) works

your comp is infected for sure.i`ve seen many cases where my customer`s comp is infected and they face the same problem.
make sure you have ethernet cable plugged in to your laptop so we can use safe mode with networking. shutdown your computer.on top of the keyboard you have F8 key.the moment you`ll press the power button to turn on the computer start tapping F8. advance boot up options will appear. select safe mode with networking
try restoring your comp to a previous time when it was working. if it doesn`t work don`t worry just follow the steps below. In any case you have to clean virus out of your computer.
download, install and run this software.after running the scan clean all the infections and restart your comp.
