GE Profile Dryer - sensor problem

I have a DPSB620EC GE Profile electric dryer. When operating in "sensor" mode (e.g., select a profile, such as "delicates" and the dryer selects time and temperature), the machine runs for about 3 minutes, and stops with the "Clean Lint Filter" light illuminated. I have cleaned out the filter, cabinet, and exhaust hose to the end. Then I realized that in "non-sensor" mode (timed dry, where I select time and temperature), the machine will not stop. Any idea which of the five temperature sensors can cause this?

I cleaned the sensor bars, which were right where you indicated they would be, but am still getting the same result. What is new is that I am now getting the error on timed dry also, but not every cycle. Any new ideas?

When I pull up the exploded view of your model, it does not show an individual moisture sensor, but is does show disconnect plug(s) for it. I can only assume that the sensor bars are an intrical part of one of the front bulkhead components. That all being said, the most common reason for your symptoms is when people use fabric softener sheets in the dryer, the sheets leave a waxy type coating on the silver sensor bars inside the drum, near the air inlet to the lint filter. If you clean those two (usually about 4 inch long x about 1/4 inch wide) metal bars off, they will be able to detect the moisture level of the clothing again, and your dryer will work on auto dry again.

It's hard to get a correct diagnosis when the symptoms change. I'm going to have to double my fee. (let's see now, free x 2 = ?)

How long has this been happening? How long is the vent and how many turns are in your venting?

One key thing you mentioned was "exhaust hose".

Flex exhaust hose should be replaced with rigid aluminum pipe and elbows, and the outside vent should not be one of those kind where the flap can only move two inches. (should be a full four inch flap or several louvers) The flex stuff can get folded over or partially crushed behind the dryer and by elbows, reducing actual opening inside it to near nothing, and the ribs along the length of it restrict air flow and will catch and accumulate lint. If your dryer outlet does not exactlly line up with the vent in your wall, use a telescopic aluminum vent peice instead of flex there also. I also think I deserve better than only thanks for trying, even after I doubled the usual fee.

GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC (Electric)

Are you having problems with your GE Profile Harmony but don't know where to start to troubleshoot? Let the dryer do it for you, here's how:

It's called "Field Service Mode"
1. Press the POWER key to turn the dryer on.
2. Press HELP. The main help screen is displayed.
3. Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds. Press EXIT to return to the HOME screen.

The system will give you a description of possible hardware failure and troublecode.

Replace the failed piece of hardware and plug your system back in. It will go through a boot-up sequence and verify that your machine is working once again.

My GE Profile Harmony Dryer is no longer Heating

Does it get hot when you turn it on, and then never gets hot again while its running? On my dryer the solenoid broke, when the dryer was cold it worked and the dryer operated properly because the dryer and solenoid were cold and the solenoid wire was closed, when the dryer was hot enough the solenoid opened and the heat would not restart. the solenoid is a coiled wire which is used to open the gas valve.

Generally, timers and sensors are separate but work together. When the sensor is on, it 'knows' how damp the clothes are. You decide how dry you want as an end point. At a certain point, the sensor runs the timer for a certain additional length of time to finish the job to the point you select. Otherwise, the timer is just that. It sounds like either the sensor or the timer board is bad.
