Question about Nikon D100 Digital Camera

Open Question

Nikon D100 When I take a shot and try to review the photo I get the message "Folder contains no photographs". The camera was disassembled to add an IR filter. I was extremely careful using a wrist strap and pad. I followed all the rule to avoid a static charge. Followed all the disassemble rules and was very careful. Is it possible I have a software problem. I went thru the manual and did all the troubleshooting procedures,,,reset, etc.......appreciate any advice. JohnK

We face the same problem "Folder contains no photographs" message.  I heard someone can still retrieve the photos with one software, but I'm not sure what software it is.  Please help.

SOURCE: Nikon D100: Lazy mirror return.

The reason the mirror is acting up is because the Shutter is going bad under slow shutter speeds. > The motor which drives the shutter charge and the mirror up and down is the same .

SOURCE: Nikon d100 locked

Have you tried to reset the camera? I seen this a few times .. and the camera reset did the trick. I've never heard of the motor noise though.

You did not mention what error mesage you got. If it is a flashing "F--" then it has something to do with your lens.

This usually happens to lenses that have an aperture ring. Do the following:

1. Turn off your camera.
2. Move the aperture ring clockwise and lock it
3. Turn on the camera and see if this works

If this does not work, unlock the aperture ring and move it counter-clockwise then lock it again.

This should fix your problem

Hi, i took a series of shots nothing on card

Maye they were accidentally saved to the internal memory and not the card?

approved cards follow:

The following is a brochure for your camera from the digital archives:
http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/slr/d100/index.htm
originally the camera had the following storage specifications: CompactFlash™ (CF) Card (Type I/II) and 512MB/1GB Microdrive™

---
If there is an internal memory, then sometimes the memory holds the pictures you took, and not the external memory card.

Have you accidentally turned off "review"? You can also go to "reset" in the menu and try that.

FOR error message when inserting a memory card with photos

You should try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your digital memory card, here are some for your options.

Photo Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Recovery for Mac

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

The D100 does not have a Live View capability. The screen can be used for menus and image reviews, not previews.

Nikon D100 Manual shooting help

The mode dial (topside left) must be set to M. That's it for manual settings - the camera won't check anything, and certainly shouldn't require the flash. You need to choose your own shutter speed and aperture settings to get a good photo, but the camera will let you take a picture no matter how you have it set.

My D100 will not accept CF cards

You can always try the reset button. It is under the flap where the USB/Video out/ and power connector is. It is just above the power connector.

D100 showing double images

I had the same issue and was directed to page 87 of owners manual. Chances are good that you have white balance bracketing on. This produces two images and can be turned off with the bracket(BKT) button and or CSM menu F11 WB Bracketing.
