The Adobe install was corrupted. Uninstall it, find and manually delete all Adobe Reader folders that are still on your pc, run a system cleaner like CCleaner then finally reinstall the Reader using the latest installer you can find here

try to completely UNINSTALL your adobe reader program. Then reinstall it. If the problem persists, uninstall the program again (Adobe reader) and delete the Adobe Reader folder in your Program Files folder. Then reinstall.

Need to delete Adobe Reader 7.0.9 so I can reinstall latest Versi

I was able to remove Adobe 7.0.9 by getting feed back from "question to google crowd"!
1. I had to download a program that removed the "setup" from the Adobe 7.0.9 on my computer.
2.I then downloaded Adobe 8.1 (with the understanding that since "7.0.9" now had no setup instructions" there would be no problem with the "8.1" download) -
3.Once "8.1" was downloaded I went to "ADD/REMOVE" and removed "7.0.9" - this time it worked just fine - no message that I had to find a folder with "7.0.9" .
4.After removing "7.0.9" I removed "8.1" with the ADD/REMOVE program;
5.All Adobe was removed from the computer..I then downloaded ADOBE 9 from Adobe's website.
6.I went to my portfolio to check it out and the pages came up without a hitch.
Goodluck to those who have had a similar problem.

I lost my Adobe Reader 6.0.1 - Français.msi file. I think that I deleted it by mistake and I can not retreive it in my recycle bin! Thank you for your support Claire lanthier

Two things to try:

1) you probably just deleted the short cut. Check in c:\program files\ then look for adobe. If you see a folder that says somethinglike adobe, then look for the .exe file. You casn then click that and get the reader to work.

From there, once you have it working, you can just make a new shortcut on your desktop. Right click on the desktop and choose new shortcut, then choose browse, and find that file again. That should be it.

2) You deleted the program completely, and you will have to download it again. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

(Personally, I would get foxit reader. It uses less resources: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php )

Adobe Reader

This is a nice little FREE utility you can try. Install Microsoft "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us
If you find (PROGRAM NAME) listed just hit the delete button.
This will take care of the MSI problem.
Then do the normal Uninstall.
Uninstall Adobe Reader, do a search for all "Adobe" files and delete them. Go to the Adobe website and install the newest Adobe Reader 8.1 program.
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
CLEAN INSTALL needed here.
This time after the Uninstall, shut down completely for at least 30 seconds, and then restart.
Then do a search for 'all files and folders' - search for both 'Adobe' and then '7.0', with the options "Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders" checked. Delete all of those related files found.
You should do this search and delete whenever you Uninstall any programs. It will remove lots and lots of leftover junk files and corrupted files taking up room on your hard drive. It will also give you a "clean install" when you reinstall or install an updated program. (Do this ESPECIALLY when re-installing or updating to a NEW anti-virus programs and “Internet Security Suite” programs such as McAfee or Norton etc.)
BEFORE RE-INSTALLING Adobe 8.1 it's the NEW VERSION!
Download and install "Registry Mechanic" then do the updates prior to running it and removing anything for the first time. This will get rid of all your current Registry errors, prior to installing or reinstalling.

Adobe installation

Hooray! Found the solution. Seems the problem is you must have the Adobe Reader 7.0.9 installer on your system to be able to install 8.1.1. You can d/l version 7.0.9 (which includes the installer) here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/read...llversions.html
Install the whole thing, then you should be able to install your 8.1.1, which will remove the 7.0.9 version in the process, but will use its installer.
