I agree, but I want to find basically a compatible board (same RAM type, etc), so I don't have to upgrade anything but the board. I found an exact rpl, but it's $179, and I know there has got to be a cheaper board out there that has the same specs. I just want to make sure I get a board that's going to basically be as close a match as possible

    thanks :)

Additionally, I've replaced the CPU with the same one that it came with (Athlon 64x2) so I need a board that is pretty much the same

Thanks. I found an exact replacement for this board, but was trying to find a cheaper board that had all the same features.

As it is a desktop computer ... it doesn't have to be the exact motherboard... this might be a good time to upgrade the cpu and motherboard

Find the specs on the board you have and do some shopping around and research.... lots of boards are compatable with that cpu (just make sure the board has the right socket). and and pretty good places to look.

Oh and please take a moment to rate this solution thanks

How do i get a c51pvgm gb motherboard to recognize a new sata hard drive.

Better get a SATA adapter card, as this mobo uses IDE (PATA) harddrives.

I have a mobo C51PVGM-GB that I would like to upgrade the video card and not use the one built into the Mobo.

You are upgrading the graphics.
Instead of using Integrated Graphics, you will be using a dedicated graphics card.

Integrated Graphics is also referred to as OnBoard Graphics.
On the motherBoard.

The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is soldered to the motherboard.

It is not a video (Graphics) card.

A dedicated graphics adapter card has it's own GPU, and graphics ram memory.

Information on the Gateway 4006136R - Nvidia GeForce 6150 AM2 uBTX 1394 motherboard,

Viewing this small photo of the motherboard, the Orange long slot you see is a PCI Express x16 slot.

1) The Northbridge chip is a C51PVG
2) The Southbridge chip is an MCP51

(CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. Another name is Microprocessor, or simply Processor for short)

3) Made by ECS
4) Has an AM2 processor socket on the motherboard, for AMD processors.

Continued in an additional Comment.

My GT5220 is less than two years old and the motherboard failed according to Gateway. All I want to know is what sort or mother board ie. model # etc. I should look for to replace it. Gateway quoted...

If you have the original Mobo in hand and feel a little curious about how at only two years old it doesn't work anymore, consider this. Inspect the large electrolytic capacitors on the board. (those round cylindrical things that stand up) for swelling. The tops should be perfectly flat. If they show swelling (domed) they have failed, and replacing them will likely bring it back. It takes good soldering skills and at least a 60-watt (100-watt preferred for this job because of the amount of heat required) temperature-regulated soldering iron, and the replacement parts. The bonus to this is you will not need to re-install your windows system. You might even feel a little like you have beat the system.
