Hi Fat head; the problem is not completly uncommon. what can happen is the fan gets something on it and becomes unballanced. Thi in turn wears the fans motor bushings out, and eventually ruins the unit. A couple hundred quid seems a bit steep to me, But I live in the U.S.A., and unless I am mistaken, the cost to have a repair person come, and do a service on an electrical appliance, is considerably higher in the U.K. So no, a couple hundred quid is not completly out of line. Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Fridge Freezer issue

If it is a HMMMMM...CLICK sound it is the relays. (approx. every 30sec or so).... OR, condensor fan located next to the compressor.... Otherwise it is more than likely the fan(evap Fan)!

Fridge Fan noisey, Fridge temperature suspect and water dispenser works intermittantly. Model is the RS21DABB and was purchased in November 2006

Fan motor bearings bad if it is a high pitched noise. If the fan is not running up to its full speed it will affect the refrigerator temperature.
