I assume you mean video card. Is it integrated on the motherboard or did you purchase it seperately? Also could you provide the make(eg.: ATI, nVidia) and model(eg.:X1550, 8800)

If you have the driver try to reinstall it.
if you dont have it identified your mainborad model.
(to identified your mainboar model click start>run and type "dxdiag" without quote.) look at sytem model and system manufacturer.
find the driver on the net or post the driver model here.

if you have graphic card identified the model

My brand new laptop is only showing partial clips of videos. it stops them before they should stop

Hi,
The problem may be with,
1. Graphics driver installed in your laptop
2. The Video file which you are trying to play may got corrupted.
3. The player you are using to play the vedio may not have proper codec to play the file
solutions:
1. Reinstall the graphics driver for your laptop
2. Try playing some other vedio files
3. Install VLC player and try playing using this player as it supports most of the vedio formats and even plays corrupted vedio files.
I hope this is helpful to you.
