If your manual doesn't mention that as an option, it may not be resistant to higher heat settings. I would avoid the oven.

Slow cooker light does not come on and crock does not heat up when plugged in


Have you checked another receptacle? If you plug it into a known good receptacle, and it still doesn't work, it's broken. You should just buy a new one.

Hi. The heating element is located on the in side / sides of your **** pot base in a circular element. That is normal.
