Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Baxi Solo 3 PF 30/80 pilot light has gone out and there is no obvious way to re-ignite it. Never had a problem in the last 8 years with it and it was just serviced last week. How can I re-ignite the pilot light please?

One thing I would check is the flame sensor. Your boiler may not have this on it but I have seen them act like this before. If you have one I would replace it. Hope this is ofsome help. Thanks

Outdoor units require there own power supply, check the breaker panel and the fuses in the disconnect switch box next to the unit if there are fused, If the capacitor that was changed last year was not the right rating or configuration it may need to be corrected. One of the most common mistakes is to find a dual run capacitor with on side not functioning and jump in a capacitor for the non functioning side, if this was done it needs to be corrected with the proper capacitor or capacitors.

Baxi solo WM 50/4 RS pilot light is lit, Boiler will heat water but not rads have you any ideas thanks sam

Double check that the programmer is calling for the boiler to fire, and also that the thermostat is turned up enough.... you will hear it click as you turn it up... if the radiators still dont get warm...
then In the airing cupboard there should be a pump on a three port valve that says A,B, and AB on the different pipe outlets... It seems that this is possibly stuck in one position.... Sometimes the servo motor on top of the three port valve (square metal box with wires going into it) goes weak and requires replacement, these are not expensive from a decent plumbing spares shop I.e Pts (plumbing trade supplies) and are a doddle to install, just isolate power to it, take square the top cover off the valve to reveal the innards and you will see it straight away... Like a round brass cylinder with a flat top... It should have two screws holding it in...

Hope this helps
Thanks

Rheem gas furnace pilot lights, but no burners or fan

If the burners do not fully ignite, the sensor will shut the furnace down. The lack of sufficient burner flame is a gas valve or gas pressure problem within the valve.
Replacing the gas valve with the original one may get you going. I surely suggest a professional service company for safety reasons and a thorough inspection. A 20 year old furnace is past it's normal life span.

There are 4 -steps for full run time to kick in a furnace.. step-1, inducer fan runs & prove thru the air tube which closes a switch and tell the circuit board to go to step-2, the igniter lights the pilot & prove its lit by heating the thermocouple, which tells the circuit board to go to step-3, opens the gas valve to dump gas in, which will light from the pilot light, and prove by a flame sensor metal stick on the last burner , which heats up and tell the circuit board Saying, ok , I've got flame.. step-4. when the box heats up, it closes a switch and turn on the main fan...! (Some gas-valves has a brain -or circuit board on top of them and are real sensetive to moisture..)

You may have one of two problems; The pilot orifice is very small and allows only a limited flow and any air trapped in the gas supply takes some time to bleed out while you are holding down the pilot button. Or the pilot orifice may be plugged in which case you would have to replace it.

Bryant 36E93 gas package (pilot won't stay lit)

If your unit has a thermo-coupling this is most likely the issue This little sensor sends a milli-voltage to the gas valve telling it to keep sending gas for the pilot since its lit and all is good. They wear out and the gas valve thinks the flame has gone out (whick is hasnt) and kills the gas flow.
