Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I have an old sharp SF-7370 that is giving mw veryicle lines on the copies that are not related to what is being reproduced. What could be the problem?
*** NOTE*** does machine have an ADF (auto document feeder)? Are you
feeding the paper through the ADF to make copy? IF machine has ADF and
you get the lines from that, place original on the glass and make copy.
Does the copy have the lines? If so continue. If not lines then clean
the '**** glass' ( thin small glass that the original is pulled over in
the copy/scan process. This is under the ADF.
Next, if problem not rectived, it depends on how the paper is fed ( comes out of the machine). Let us say that the paper cover out of the machine 'letter' or ' portrait' and you look at the copy --- the lines are from left to right on the copy, okay. These lines could be from the fuser ( the hot area), pull the fuser out and look at the fuser rollers. Do the fuser rollers have lines -- if so then the rollers need to be replaced. If not then you are looking at the drum / transfer unit. Probably a blade is bad and will need replaced. To tell whether it is drum or transfer -- start to make a copy and open the front cover as to stop the paper in mid-stream. This way you can tell which unit has the problem.
NOW -- lets us say that the paper is coming out 'letter' again but the lines are from Top to Bottom. You will also want to look at the drum and/ or transfer units. This would but a 'stall' or 'blade skip' problem. Again, start to make a copy and open cover in mid-stream to see which unit has the problem.
If the drum unit is the problem, replace blade and maybe drum. IF the transfer unit is bad, replace transfer blade, roller and maybe the transfer belt ( if belt is present). Some transfer units use belts and other rollers.
