I had similar problem with 42fd9932, run for a few secs or minutes, shutdown and flash red led for ever. Fans in this unit were not causing shutdown although I could stop one and get the red led flashing thing.
Replace c2212 100uf, c2508 4.7uf changed to 10uf, c2664 100uf. I also added clip on heatsink to U7203 8.5v TO-220 case regulator( next to c2212) and a drop of oil to each fan(poked a hole through label center). Something else I did was add a 47 ohm 5w in parallel with fan ps 100 ohm 5 w resistor.
These parts are all located on the two power supply boards. Use Caution 380V is present on these boards. Allow a few min for caps to discharge.

when a television turns off by itself and flashes as you say, it indicates that there is a problem inside the tv. If you keep trying to turn it on you may do more damage. It could be something as simple as a faulty fuse inside. If you have no expierience with electrics I suggest you get it checked out by a professional. I had a similar problem with another tele model and it was the fuse in the back of the tele that needed changing. I did try to this on my own but unfortunatley didn't have the right fuse so i took it to a repair shop and he done it really quickly.

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.
