SOURCE: Monitor using 100% cpu and on the blink

Video card is plugged via DVI cable? If the board in the flat panel is going bad ( main signal pcb) video card can be going up and down scale to control its sync with no luck, causing the CPU useage problem.Only ever seen this once. Normally, the monitor will not cause and performance issues other than you cannot see anything.

SOURCE: blank HP w1907

If the power light does not turn color and stay's green on startup, it is not a power problem. It is most likely the inverter. If the unit is in warranty, send it out ASAP. Contact HP customer care by email and have the issue logged in.
If in warranty, they will send you a box by FedX second day and have repaired.
This is a 19" monitor and will not be worth paying for repairs if not in warranty.

Moniter power light blinks purple.

Inspect the power supply and also try it on another PC too.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I restarted my computer and when it came back on, the moniter was blank and the power light was blinking. It is a moniter from 2006, but I can't help that hope that if it just went out the light wouldn't...

jessica407, I will assume it is a Hewlett-Packard (HP). If monitor screen is still black then try to sub-in a known good unit to prove that the pc is ok. If pc ok then you need to visit this blog on web.
http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ If you are not into DIY repair you should at least understand problem that ALL brands of "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit LCD monitors suffer from and how some are repaired for less than $6 on a DIY fix. Yes, you should do some reading in my and other fixya tech's profiles and then you will know all the options open to you as a consumer/user of LCD monitor. Should you decide to contract out the repair work it will cost 6 to 8x cost of DIY. Please post back reply to let us know course of action taken. 12fixlouie

Screen goes black, but power light is on (not blinking)

The problem is not with your screen. Its the problem of Video Card of your system which is unable to send Video Signals to the Screen.

Dell E172FP, monitor blinks then goes blank or black

This is a known problem of the Invertor board. If you are technically able you can open the monitor and resolder transistors 2sc5707 as also all pins of 4 yellow invertor transistors that you can see near the backlight connectors.

Monitor blinks no image

first you need to isolate the problem to either the computer or the moniter. I would sugust that you hook a know good moniter to the compter and go from there. If the other moniter works then you have a moniter issue aif not chek the video card in the computer. good luck
