You can see lights or sparks smells like it is about to blow up
The Kirby vaccuums have carbonbrushes with an autostop if its to short it will autostop, but if the electric field has a problem on one of the 2 coils then only one brush will spark more then the other then the electric field must replaced , but if both brushes have a sparking problem then the armature can have a disbalans a. one ballbearing is run out or b. the collectors are worn Sometimes a small lathe will provide a solution to restore the armature commutator again

It probably needs new carbon brushes in the motor,DO NOT run anymore for fear of burning motor out.
