Lets start by pulling the plug on this machine and while your back there notice where the three screws are holding the console to the machine and remove them until the top comes off noticing how it latches front to back and the screws secure it. Now you will see on the right hand side a grey box, look for a white plug top side left with only two wires sitting by itself and unplug it. Then plug the machine back in and you should still have no power. Next the cable with blue wires connecting the console to the grey box needs to be unplugged. Now we will test that grey box as it supplies your console. The test is as this unplug power, unplug console( blue wires ) then the next step is to plug the white plug with the thick dual black wires in. You should hear it cycle through all the valves, door lock and bump the tub. If this works and after you plug in the console and no power, guess what? Need to replace the console. Ps the plug with the grey sheath by the console blue wires is your door lock:) Write back if you need any help.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite HE4T Washer

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" "DLE" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.

TROUBLESHOOTING KENMORE ELITE HE3T FRONTLOAD WASHER WITH THE ERROR CODE F70

The F70 and F71 error codes on this model of washer indicates a communication problem between the user interface control board and the central control unit (main control board). These error codes can sometimes be caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines. Try unplugging the washer to completely disconnect electrical power. Wait 1 minute and then plug the washer back in to the see if the fault code clears. If it does, then the washer may work normally.

If the code reappears, then you could have a wire harness connection problem, a failed user interface control board or a failed central control unit. I recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair this type of problem so that the correct component can be replaced.

Be sure your unit is plugged into a 3 prong grounded outlet as well.

F71 is a "heatbeat failure" which means that your front interface control board is shorted and will need to be replaced. it's actually fairly easy to replace and can definitely be done by yourself. To access the part, just pull the unit forward and remove the 3 screws coming in from the back of the top panel. Remove the top panel by pulling it back, up, and off. Then remove all the screws going into the top of the control panel. Remove the dispenser drawer and remove the screws coming in through the dispenser. Remove the screws coming from the inside of the dryer going forward into the control panel, then remove the control panel (it's just clipped in on the bottom. After that you can disconnect the wire harnesses to the front interface control board and replace that part.

GE Washer WSSH300GWW front loader washer CONTROL LOCK!!

Solution: Hold down the power and delay start button at the same time. In about 3-4 seconds a beep will occur and the red key lock will turn off. I think it is a problem in the machines firmware. I just guessed at what combination of buttons the engineers used to do a firmware reset. In any case it worked for me.
