a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Well, maybe I can try, thus in your bios setting you can boot using usb cdrom? Or maybe its time to change your cdrom drive already. If you can borrow a good spare cdrom. Take this in for the meantime in exchange for your installed cdrom. Maybe your cdrom drive is faulty. Then if this is ok, it is now easy for you to get on.
Second option, you can take out your harddrive prime it, then have a partition (say d:\) with a copy of full copy of xp installer, and other important installer just have it foldered. Then I assume you can boot using a floppy drive with win98 rescue disk. After booting goto harddrive partition with xp installer. then click setup and set it up in c:\ . Then your go other software, installed it manually.
I do this coz it much faster to installed using harddrive and also it is only in xp.
Hope this helps. comments if I miss something.

It does not appear that kingston has released any support for its pen drives for windows 98. I would highly suggest upgrading your operating system. You may still be able to contact kingston, they may have a fix but it seems fairly unlikely.

You need to use floppy disks (called boot disks) to boot DOS with cd-rom drivers, because the win98 cd isn't bootable by default.
I suggest you to go to http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and grab the respective windows 98 boot disk.
You will need a functional computer to write the disk image into the floppy.
After that put the boot order in BIOS as floppy first.
Once you see DOS prompt A:\> just access your cd-rom drive like d: or e: and then type install

Chose boot sequence to boot directly from the HDD . Also check if the Hard Disk is OK by connecting it to another PC. Check too that the power cables are snug tight and none of the pins are bent in the IDE slot. Now try booting first in safe mode & if successful go ahead and boot normally....sodeep
