If it has a recovery partition f11+ctrl when booting and you will come to a factory restore menu, you should be able to restore the system to the factory settings this way. if it does not have the partition you will have to do it the hard way witch entails re-installing the OS, finding drivers, and installing programs needed ( browser of your preference, antivirus, etc.)

Dell Latitude to Factory Settings b> Computer viruses are a real pain to deal with. One way to combat computer viruses is to restore your computer to its factory settings. This means restoring the settings to the specific date that you bought and set up your Dell Lattitude. There are two ways to do this. You can use the System Restore function available with your Windows operating system; or, you can use the pre-installed system restore utility that comes with your Dell Lattitude laptop.

Turn on your computer, and then click on the Windows "Start" icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Click on "All Programs," and then select the "Accessories" dropdown menu. Select "System Tools," and then click on "System Restore." Wait for the System Restore welcome screen to appear. Click on "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click on the "Next" button to continue. Click on the back arrow next to the calendar until you have reached the date you purchased or set up your computer. Select that date, and then click on the "Next" button to continue. Your computer will automatically restart. b> Using Dell System Restore Utility b> Turn on your computer, and then press "F8" as your Dell Latitude is booting up to enter the "Advanced Bootup Options" screen. Press the down arrow, and then select "Repair Your Computer." Press the "Enter" key to continue. Select "English" as the default language, and then click on the "Next" button to continue. Enter your administrative username and password, and then click "OK." Click on "Dell Factory Image Restore," and then click on the next button to continue. Click on the box next to "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition." Click "Next" to continue. Wait for the factory restoration process to complete, and then click on the "Finish" button to complete the system restore process.

Hi. I have netbook acer aspire one AO725, it seems the battery wont charging.. I read about solution that needs to update the the BIOS version.. current BIOS version v1.5, the latest is v1.8 but, it w

I suggest that you make sure the battery is in fact good before you update the BIOS. If the battery was charging OK and suddenly stopped charging then the problem is not the BIOS version.

If you do decide to update the BIOS you will need to find the appropriate procedure to follow by searching the Acer support site and/or knowledge base. Please be aware that using an incorrect method or if something fails during a BIOS update it can result in unrepairable damage.

delete/reinstall the whole graphics driver for your laptop, not only this file.
find the original SETUP on the harddrive or manufacturer's dvd or support website ! Or even find a more recent version
good luck (my own laptop is 2009 ! : what a mess with ATI)

Download Win7 (same version as your original) from Microsoft.
Re-install Windows using your original key.
If re installing from USB goto the bios and change the Boot order to USB 1st - You will need to re-install all other software.
Having an ethernet cable plugged directly into your router is usually enough to get all the Win Updates required to get you going again.
The Lenovo site is a good resource for up to date drivers.

Have you activated this before? If so a recent update might have caused this. So you can contact them or can check their site / remove the update. If its a pirate version you have installed genuine software using the internet or have reset the timer. (Since its installed in year 2007). So you have to either purchase a key + activate the key or stop the activation timer using a third party software (not recommended since its piracy). If you update the system (not in a genuine copy) it would cause similar problems. Thanks

I cannot log onto my facebook account with my 6 year old Inspiron 600M, but okay with HP laptop

Your 6 year old most likely has an obsolete system. It may not understand the new codes on some web pages because it would need updated Java and browser version. Java is meant to have automatic updates, but if yours doesn't do that then go to java.com to get this going. The new browser version should be IE8 currently. But if you use Firefox or Chrome or any other application, then see if you can get updates on those. If my ideas help you, please do rate me. Thanks

On most laptops windows key is located on a sticker underneath.

You could also contact the laptop manufacturer who should also be able to help you in most cases even if you are not the original owner but ar using the original software.

660, hangs up totally after ca. 40mins use

Hi Martin,

It sounds like a corrupted firmware update. Please go to this site:

http://gpsinformation.org/perry/nuvi/

I believe the latest firmware version for a 660 is v4.7. You can try reflashing the firmware with v4.7 or trying an earlier version. Let me know if this resolves your issue.

Also, the Nuvi can lag if you have large picture files on an inserted SD card.
