My RCA tv picture is jumping

Vertical jumping may have a vertical hold issue, horizontal may have a horizontal hold issue. Most older tv sets will have some knobs or adjustable screws for vertical and horizontal hold. Turn your set on and check for these knobs on the back of your set and adjust until your picture is in as well as you can get it

RCA 20F514TD has lost horizontal hold. How can I adjust this? I have found no button or menu option discussed in the manual or by searching.

Horizontal rolling is the fault to your TV I assumes. It is a circuit fault. It can't be adjusted by customer controls. Contact any experienced service technician.

My philips 240b powervision tv, about 10 years old, while watching, all of a sudden the screen video turned into slanting horizontal whilte lines. the input is from setup box. I guess it happened when i...

Slanting horizontal lines indicate that the horizontal hold is out of adjustment. As the components age they change values and don't have the same effect on the circuit. some units have a horizontal hold adjustment pot on the back that can be adjusted to bring the horizontal back to the middle. If the adjustment pot is not on the back the only way to bring the horizontal hold back is on the inside of the unit and this is not a safe proceedure. If the picture was really good before it went bad then it might be worth the cost of repair. If the picture was getting weak (light colors, washed out look) then the repairs are not cost effective (not worth the money to have the unit repaired) There are some tv repair people that work quite a bit cheaper than others. It would be worth a few phone calls to get an estimate and make an informed purchasing decision.

RCA horizontal screen issue

Although I was able to get into the screen adjustment menu by following the below instructions, I ended up having to have the "pincushion module and 2HV diodes" replaced along with a repair to the deflection circuit.

If you choose to try to system settings, good luck, but make sure to write down your original value before changing any values and make sure that you do not change Parameter #42 (value has to be 247).

Instructions:
  1. TV turned on
  2. Press and hold the "menu" button at the TV
  3. Press and release the "power" button.
  4. Press and release the "vol up" button.
  5. Release the 'menu" button.
  6. The initial security parameter displayed will be 'zero' Change this to '76'.
  7. YOU ARE NOW IN ADJUSTMENT MODE
  8. Use the 'channel up or down' to select parameter 'p'.
  9. Write down the old value of the parameter before changing.
  10. Use the 'volume up of down' buttons to change the barameter value.
  11. When you have made all the adjustments turn the set off to exit.
Note: The Horizontal size it parameter 21 and the horizontal position is parameter 15.

JVC AV-28WFX EUS1 unstable image

Hello, I think you have a faulty "horizontal width" or horizontal
linearity preset pot. This pot will be located on the main PCB
and you can adjust it with a small screw driver, when you do the
picture will shift from left to right or vice versa, or move back to fill each side. If it wont hold after making the adjustments then the pots ( potentiometers) need replacing, which means unsoldering them from the printed circuit board( PCB) and take them in to your local radio shop for new ones. By the way you might need 2 pots ( 1 for the WIDTH and 1 for the LINEARITY)
Good luck.

Colors won't stay set

NOTE: Manual Convergence settings ARE LOST if the customer returns to AUTO Magic Focus mode. (More Details) this situation is normal. Bottom line: This is caused by two issues, The Centering is off of any or all CRTs. (Don't forget Red and Blue Offset values). The Horizontal Size needs to be changed by increasing H. Size by 20mm. Readjust the Horizontal Size to the NEW specifications. These are different that the original Service Manual. They have been increased by 20mm on 51", 57" and by 25mm on the 65". Before replacing DCUs, Please CHECK and confirm if any of the three color center alignments are off and readjust the Horizontal Size to the New specifications.. TO CHECK. Clear DCU data by holding down the DCAM "Service Only Switch" and then POWER. Make sure the Green is centered. Make sure the Red and Blue is offset from center with respective offset value according to the SM information. Readjust the Horizontal Size to the NEW specifications. These are different that the original Service Manual. They have been increased by 20mm on the 51" and the 57" and on the 65" it's increased by 25mm. There IS NO NEED to replace DCUs. The DCUs are not defective...All that is needed is to confirm the Centering Adjustment for the three colors and adjust the Horizontal Size to the NEW specifications. Adjust if any color is found to be out of adjustment specifications. If you don't understand this then you need live chat!
