Try pressing the reset button at the back of the router for 10 secs. After that try using admin or Admin for the username and leave the passwork blank.

I'm in the Wirless security part of the process in placing a password in the router. What should i do next? I clicked WEP already but there are 4 encyrption keys. i dont know what to put and where to put a...

Rather than using WEP which is not completely secure try using WPA-PSK. When selecting WPA, there will be only one password box to open. From there you can enter the password you want to use and save the configuration. If you want to use WEP, when the page with 4 encryption keys opens up, go to the box for the first key and enter the password there. If needed select the shared key option and save the configuration.

It seems I need a password to set up my printer on a wireless Lan. I don't know my password. Please help!

depending on your setup, this may be written on a sticker on your router
if not

go onto your computer, go to run cmd.exe type ipconfig
somewhere it will say the gateway adress, this is your router address, type this into the url bar of your wen browser and it should give you your router control panel, in there is where the wireless network key is set. see what it is et too, or, change it to one you know.
however you may need a password to get into the control panel, if you dont know this either. google search the manual for your router, download it and save it on your pc, then got to your internet providers website lookup configuring router for their services, again save it to your pc, perform a hard reset according to router manual , then reconfigure according to internet providers settings.

I need to find my wpa access code for my comupter and i dont know where to log in to put my username and password. The only things on the bottom of my modem are the MAC and the serial number?

If you have not already configured your router, you will need to open up a browser and type in the the following:

http://192.168.0.1

Enter admin for the user name and password for the password, both in lower case letters.

Under Wireless Settings you should see the WEP Security Encryption. There under the Authentication Type if you have choosen the WPA.

Hope that helps you!!

People access internet through my router

Put a password on the Router or if you already have then change it.

You can do this by putting the routers IP address in Internet Explorer. If you have changed the IP you will know what this is but if you havent it is 192.168.1.1 and username and password is admin.

Go to security and enter your password and save. This will then need changing on all devices that connect to it also but should keep people out!

D-link DI-514

The information he gave you was correct for a new DI-514 but if this has already been used it could be that the password was set. To take care of this problem, you can return the router to factory default settings by inserting a paper clip into the reset hole at the back (leave the router plugged in and turned on), hold it for ten seconds and then release. The router should reboot. Try the 192 and admin again.

Wireless connection

You probably need to goto your routers web page and change the name there.

While you are there it is a good idea to setup at least WEP security if you have not done so already.

To get there, usually, while you are connected, you can look at the properties of your connection, and get your default gateway's IP address.

In a web browser, put this IP number of your default gateway into the browser's address bar and click go. It should load your router's administration web page. If it has a password and you dont know what that is then it is probably the default password.

To get the default password for your router, into Google search for example if you has a linksys router, search Google for "linksys default password" this should bring up the default password for a linksys router. usually a combination of "admin/password".

Once logged into the administration web page, the network name is listed under "SSID".
