Question about Hotpoint Ariston Aquarius WD420 Front Load All-in-One Washer/Dryer

1 Answer

Hello, I have a hotpoint aquarius WD420. The machine first started playing up by not pumping out properly, and aborting mid cycle qith an error code, after the first pump out. I removed the filter / float ball assembly and cleaned out a lot of debris which were jamming the ball and blocking the filter. I re-fitted the assembly and the machine washed several loads succesfully. The machine once again aborted mid-cycle with an error code. I restarted a couple of times, and on the final time, the machine melted a small area of the plastic zip on an item of clothing. The machine now doesn't start succesfully. The only action when starting a cycleis the "wash" light lights, and the "door locked" light stays off. What do you think the problem is?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have now taken the circuit board out.

I have found an area of circuit board that has blown. The blown area is Q14 and Q9 which are a triac and what appears to be a transistor. There are two triacs on the board - one mounted on a heatsink and one that isn't. The small transistor (Q9) has been blown to pieces. I bought the machine as a graded appliance 2-3 years ago so I don't think I have a parts warranty. I was therefore hoping to replace the parts on the circuit board. I have the part no for Q14 (the triac) but the transistor (Q9) has been vaporised. Do you or anyone else know what part no this might be? Also do you think this is a symptom, rather than the cause? Is this Triac the motor control triac or the heater control triac?

    Thankyou in advance

    Many thanks

Did the circuit board get wet?
Its behind the fascia panel.
You will need to remove the top cover to see.
Screws are at the back of the top cover.
Remove them and slide the top backwards to get the top off.
Look for any water marks.
Best luck

Your best solution is to go on the net & see if you can find another circuit board.
It will only be a few bucks.
I wouldn`t bother trying to fix any pats on the board.
The board could be damaged beyond repair.
Also, there may be other resistors which are blown but not visible.
As for the age of the machine, I wouldn`t say it was a symptom, more like worn out.
    good luck

Whay my Hotpoint -Ariston Aquarius WD420 Front Load All-in-One Washer / Dryer stpos have way the circle

You say it stops half way through cycle (if I have read it right), especially when fast spin starts. Does it stop anywhere else (in wash cycle or rinse cycle)?

I would check the main filter in the sump (pipe from drum to drain pump) and ensure pump itself is not blocked which could cause the pump out time to be exceeded and thus stop the program. A faulty pressure switch could also be responsible.
I would also check the tacho on the motor and connections to main board at bottom of machine near to motor.

Disconnect machine by pulling out plug and wait 10 minutes for capacitors to discharge before doing anything, to protect yourself against residual voltages.

Flashing f - 05

Error f05 is a problem with the pressure system usually caused by a blockage. These are most commonly found in the pipe which is attached to the bottom of the drum.
Take off the access plate at the back of your machine and you can see it is secured by a large jubilee type clip.
Please be aware that there will be water in this pipe.
Hope this helps & thankyou for using Fixya.
